Clara nodded and said with a smile, “Finally, someone to bring down that troublemaker! He’s practically lawless. No one can control him.”

Tyler smiled but said nothing, looking slightly proud of himself.

Other men might find it shameful to be called hen–pecked and be in a rush to explain themselves, or get mad at the comment.

Tyler, instead, wrapped Rachel in his arms, looking absolutely content. “There’s nothing wrong with being hen- pecked.”

Rachel’s face flushed, feeling rather shy. “Quit teasing me.”

“I’m telling the truth.”

Rachel and Tyler chatted with Thomas in the afternoon. Tyler soon suggested that she head back when he noticed how exhausted she was becoming.

Thomas looked rather dismayed. “Leaving already? Won’t you stay for dinner?”

“No need. Rachel is tired. I’ve got to take her home so she can get some rest.‘

Tyler noticed that Rachel had yawned a few times.

Thomas didn’t want to force them. “Alright, take Rachel back home. I won’t make you two stay, then.”

When Tyler and Rachel left the Lewis mansion, Rachel heaved a sigh of relief.

“We survived.”

Tyler looked tenderly at her. “I told you not to force yourself if you didn’t want to come. Yet you insisted.”

“I was doing it for your sake. Your relatives aren’t exactly nice people. Then again, with Mr. Lewis on your side, they wouldn’t dare to do anything to you. It’s good to gather with your family once in a while.”

Tyler didn’t say it out, but Rachel could tell that he desired love and family more than anyone else.

As for Tyler, he knew full well that Rachel agreed to go back to the Lewis mansion for his sake.

He held Rachel’s hand. “Alright, let’s head home and get some rest. You ate quite a bit for lunch, especially those pork ribs. You like them a lot, don’t you? I’ll have Wanda prepare that for you again.”

Rachel nodded as her thoughts drifted to Winnie. “How was Winnie when you sent her home?”

“She looked much calmer after you spoke to her. I can tell that she really likes William, though. She’s just a young girl who refuses to face up to her own feelings.”

Rachel shook her head helplessly. “Being blindly lovestruck is certainly not a good thing. It’s not wrong of her to like a man, but it’ll be a problem if it’s the wrong man.”

Tyler looked at her with a doting smile.
