Yvonne: “What happened?”
“Susanna. She’s gone. Someone took her.”
Yvonne: “!!!”
“What?”
Taken? Stolen? No way. Who’d have the nerve—or the skill—to snatch someone right under her nose?
“You sure she didn’t just run off? Maybe went for some training on her own?”
Chloe: “No, and honestly… it looks like something bad happened.”
Yvonne: “…”
Honestly? Something bad?
Chloe’s words hit her like a frying pan to the head. Yvonne’s mind blanked and she rushed straight for Susanna’s room.
It was just next door.
Yvonne stopped in the doorway.
The place was a mess. Susanna’s gym clothes, torn to shreds, were tossed on the floor. The bed looked like a tornado had hit it.
Yvonne sucked in a sharp breath. “Holy crap. What the hell happened here?”
Kidnapped? Assaulted? And right next door to her own room? How could she have slept through that?
She turned to Chloe, bewildered.
Chloe looked grim. “If I’m right, we’re totally screwed.”
Yvonne’s mouth twitched.
“Yeah, no kidding.”
If Hull found out about this, she’d be running for her life. Not even her brother could cover for her now.
Crap, crap, crap.
How was she supposed to explain this to Hull? Her brain was spinning.
She yelled, “Who did this?!”
“No clue. There’s not a single trace left on the island.”
Chloe’s voice was heavy.
She whipped out her phone and dialed Dan. Once, twice, three times—no answer.
She and Chloe exchanged a look. The fact Dan wasn’t picking up just made it seem even more likely he was behind it.
Yvonne was livid. “Find him. Now. I want to know where that jerk is—I’m going to wring his neck.”
Unbelievable. Stealing someone off her own turf.
Yvonne stormed back to her room and changed into jeans and a hoodie in record time.
Chloe followed her in. “What about Mr. Miguel? How do we explain this to Hull?”
If Yvonne stormed off to confront Dan, Hull would find out Susanna was missing for sure.
Yvonne groaned. Crap. How was she supposed to explain this to Hull?
“And if Susanna really is with Dan… who knows what could’ve happened to her…”
Chloe didn’t finish the thought, but Yvonne got the picture.
If Susanna was gone for good, they were in serious trouble.
Yvonne was fuming, practically shaking with rage and nerves. All she wanted was to find Dan and hand his head to Hull as an apology.
