Cross My Tigress Face the Wrath (Stella) novel Chapter 801

“If having triplets is so tough, then why not just wait for a single baby next time? It wouldn’t be nearly as hard.”

Stella Quinn blinked. “Excuse me, what?!”

She stared at her sister, hurt flickering in her eyes. That was not the comforting reply she was hoping for. What did she mean—just give up?

Yvonne Quinn sighed. “I’m just worried about you, okay? I mean, do you know how huge you’d get carrying three babies at once?”

It was the truth, and she was genuinely concerned about Stella’s health later in the pregnancy.

Stella shook her head. “That doesn’t mean I should just give up on my babies.”

Besides, these were her and Ronald Quinn’s kids. For so long, being with Ronald had just been a dream. Now, she finally had him and now, she was pregnant. Stella cherished both Ronald and the little lives growing inside her more than anything.

“I’m just worried about how hard it’ll be for you. And, well, it’s… dangerous, too.”

Yvonne trailed off, suddenly anxious. She didn’t dare even say the word “dangerous” out loud to Stella—she was afraid of adding more stress.

Stella was adamant. “I want them. No matter what.”

Yvonne fell silent. As much as she cared about the babies, her sister’s safety would always come first.

Trying to change the subject, Stella asked, “So, if I get married, will you come back home for it?”

Yvonne snorted. “Are you kidding me? Of course I’ll be there.”

Stella’s wedding wasn’t far off. Yvonne’s nerves buzzed at the thought—especially since Susanna Tucker was still missing. The idea of Hull getting mad at her over this made her even more anxious. Handling Star was tough enough; if Hull lost his cool too, she’d just about lose her mind.

“Oh, God,” Yvonne muttered inwardly, “if I’ve done something wrong, just punish me already.”

After a few more words about Susanna, the sisters hung up.

Yvonne promised herself she’d make it back before Stella’s wedding.

Just then, Dan Murray walked in and saw Yvonne lost in thought. His expression soured.

Yvonne stared at him, speechless. Dan’s face twisted in anger.

“Susanna—look, even if I did do something to her, it’s not your business to question me. And you—you need to get your head straight about Xander. That marriage needs to end.”

His tone grew icier with every word. But the second he implied he might have hurt Susanna, rage overtook Yvonne. Dan’s words faded into nothing—her mind blanked out, driven by sheer fury.

“You monster! She’s your own sister!”

With a shout, Yvonne lunged at him. Dan had drugged her earlier, so she was still weak, but that didn’t stop her. She grabbed his head and bit down—hard—on his cheek.

Everything happened in a blur.

Dan let out a strangled yelp of pain. “Yvonne, you crazy woman! Are you part pit bull or something?”

He angrily grabbed her by the neck, holding her back. Earlier that afternoon, he’d already gotten plenty of weird looks from people for the bite marks on his face, and now she’d gone and done it again.
