Dead at Heart (Ariel and Jayson) novel Chapter 693

The news came as a shock to everyone.

Jayson narrowed his eyes. For something like this to happen at such a time, it didn't seem like a simple coincidence.

Gary's expression hardened. "Has the news already gotten out?"

His secretary nodded. "For some reason, the news spread very quickly. Some civilians have even learned that Mr. Larkin's company is partnering with the government on a research project. There are already opinions suggesting they're a high-risk company since one of their employees lost their life in the workplace."

The actual comments were even harsher. Some civilians suspected the government of trying to cover up the incident.

A fatal workplace accident was a serious matter.

In other words, they would not only need to reassess whether Jayson's materials were up to standard, but also question the safety and security of his factories' operations.

With both problems surfacing at the same time, the damage to Jayson's company would be doubled.

Ariel processed the information and quickly spotted the most critical issue.

If it were just about the data, they could spend more time redoing the tests. But Jayson's factory appeared to have operational risks—risks that had already cost an employee their life. With the public aware of the incident, the situation became even more complicated.

She frowned and looked at Jayson, who sat calmly in his seat.

Jayson dropped his gaze, pondering for a moment. Then, crossing his legs, he said nonchalantly, "The news must've spread really fast. Everyone's already talking about it, yet I, the boss, haven't received any official word."

He knew Eric would have contained the situation as soon as the accident happened. Someone must have deliberately leaked it.

Maurice had a grim look on his face. "It's almost time to incorporate your materials into this major project, Mr. Larkin. But with all this happening, your company might be classified as high-risk.

"The investigation and the resolution of the accident at your factory will take time. And we can't simply wait while the project moves forward."

That was the most pressing issue.

Gary's face darkened.

Ariel studied Jayson's expression. Somehow, it seemed as though he had expected this.
