The sudden silence was suffocating, heavy with agony.
Ariel had finally spoken about the suffering she had been enduring. Katie's and Leonard's faces turned pale at her words.
Not wanting to see them so devastated, Ariel forced a wry smile. "I have endometrial cancer. But don't worry. I've been receiving proper treatment and consulting an experienced doctor. I'll… I'll do my best to make a full recovery."
Somehow, her steady voice eased the tension in the room, if only slightly.
Betty, still stunned, sank onto the couch, unable to react.
Evelyn furrowed her brows in disbelief. Endometrial cancer meant Ariel might struggle to conceive in the future.
Jayson's face was as white as a sheet. His lips moved, but no words came out at first. After a long pause, he finally managed to speak. "When did you find out?"
Ariel met his gaze and noticed his eyes were red. To her surprise, beneath the calm mask of the man who always seemed invincible, she saw raw despair and misery.
Jayson's grip on her wrist remained firm despite his hand trembling with fear. His heart felt as though it were bleeding.
Ignoring the waves of pain coursing through her, Ariel answered, "It was around the time Nancy returned to the country. I was diagnosed on the day you helped celebrate her birthday."
Jayson shuddered. His lips turned pale, and his eyes went blank, as though the last shred of hope in him had just been crushed.
What had he been doing then? He hadn't been by her side. That explained why Ariel hadn't told him anything. She must have been deeply disappointed—disappointed enough to give up on relying on him altogether.
The world around Jayson grew dull and distant. His vision dimmed, and his ears rang. Even he couldn't forgive himself.
Janice sniffled softly as she watched Ariel explain everything so calmly. She knew what Ariel had been forced to endure. She hated everyone who had hurt her, regardless of the reason.
Katie's eyes brimmed with tears. She wanted to hug Ariel, but all she could do was sob. "Don't worry. I'll stay by your side through this. With how advanced medicine is today, I'm sure the doctors will cure you."
Even Leonard was shaken. The always-elegant gentleman's eyes glistened with tears. He was a cancer patient himself and knew all too well how grueling the treatments could be.

Nice and amazing story with gripping turns, but can you give more chapters? And please we need more romance as readers, it has been dragging on a lot, maybe romance, happy ending and end it soon....
