But then again, Athena really did like him—a little smugness wasn’t out of place, especially since Athena wasn’t around to see it.
Isaac took a casual sip of his whiskey, just as relaxed as ever.
“That’s why I keep telling you guys—don’t put women on such a pedestal. Honestly, risking life and limb for a girl? It’s embarrassing, really.”
Fitch stared down at his drink, silent. Tyler didn’t want to rub salt in the wound, so he just shrugged.
“Just wait and see. I’m definitely the most easygoing one of us all.”
Ian chuckled right away. “Let’s see if you can keep that up. I wouldn’t bet on it.”
Tyler was always the one who cared most about his pride when it came to relationships, so he raised his chin defiantly.
“Don’t worry, I’m not going to eat my words. I’ll just have you all gnashing your teeth with envy.”
Ian dropped the subject, glancing at Fitch. Ever since what happened with Zoey, Fitch had barely said a word.
They’d invited him out a few times, but he always declined, saying he needed to stay home to look after Nolan. He hadn’t joined them in ages.
The group lapsed into quiet, nursing their drinks. Tyler glanced around at their gloomy faces and shook his head.
He remembered watching Ian chase after Maja back in the day, and at the time, he’d sworn to himself he’d never let a woman have that kind of hold over him.
He’d stuck to that, even if it made him a bit of a jerk.
But his life was different from theirs. He never knew how much time he had left, so putting his own feelings first was the only thing that made sense.
Even now, after he and Athena had started dating, he couldn’t bring himself to always compromise for her sake.
After a while, Tyler left the bar and headed home.
He’d just walked through his front door when he remembered Athena was still at her own place.
He pulled out his phone and called her, telling her she should move in with him.
He’d expected her to be thrilled, but she hesitated for a few seconds before replying in a hoarse voice, “No need.”

The readers' comments on the novel: Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja)
Author, would you story about Ryan settling down and another story on Eric regaining his body and memories back from Patrick, and Eric also settling down as I find it so disheartening for him to have gone through what he went through at the research institute, and I'll like for him to get his "golden boy" life back though, not at the detriment of Ian....
When will the author update to finish Beck's story? What about Dylan and Tyler's love lives? Also, I'll like the author to write on Wilma and Elvis ending up together as she was quite persistent in pursuing him. And Shawn's story, Cornelia Sullivan and Omar Casson. Also, a little write-up on Jeff (Ian's assistant) love life, too. Thanks, author for updating....
When will get update?...
What is wrong that the author has not updated this novel in over a month or is there somewhere else that I can continue reading the novel from chapter 1951 upwards? Do tell, please. Thanks....
