Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja) novel Chapter 2176

This woman had a real attitude problem; the moment she saw Athena, she rolled her eyes so hard they nearly disappeared into her skull.

“What are you still doing here in Mr. Bennitt’s house? Aren’t you afraid he’ll say you’re boring? You saw everything that happened that night—why aren’t you angry? You’re a woman. Don’t you have any self-respect? He doesn’t even like you, but here you are, still hanging around.”

For a moment, Athena wondered why she had even bothered coming. Tyler had a whole host of women willing to dote on him—she was just one more in a crowd, tagging along for no reason at all.

She got into her car, pressed her foot to the gas, and sped off without a backward glance.

Two hours earlier, Tyler had posted on Facebook about feeling ill—something vague about being under the weather.

He had hundreds of people on his friends list. Word spread quickly. Soon, nearly every woman who had ever been close to him, including a roster of A-list actresses, got the message and saw an opportunity to score a few points with him. One after another, they showed up at his doorstep, each hoping to outshine the rest.

There was plenty of snark and passive-aggressive banter at the front door, and in the end, only four women remained.

Tyler really was sick. He’d given his entire household staff the day off, hoping Athena would come to take care of him instead.

But no matter how long he waited, Athena never added him back on social media.

When the doorbell finally rang, Tyler dragged himself up, fighting a fever-induced haze. He opened the door to find four women waiting—every last one of them a famous actress he’d once been involved with.

He glanced past them, searching for someone else. But there was no one—no Athena.

Was she really going to be this heartless?

He lowered his eyes, bitterness flickering across his face.

“What are you all doing here?”

“We heard you were sick. We came to look after you,” one replied sweetly.

Tyler shut the door in their faces. “No need.”

He’d never been so blunt before. In the past, he’d always been attentive—if he dated someone, he made sure to help their career, to treat them well. This was the first time he’d ever turned anyone away so coldly.

Tyler used to joke that he wasn’t a player, just a man with a heart shattered into a thousand pieces, each one holding a different woman. He liked to say he moved through life without getting attached—but now it felt like he’d landed on a cactus.

He collapsed onto the couch, burning up with fever, utterly spent. He didn’t even have the energy to move.
