Tyler’s tone was unusually serious this time—no, not just serious. There was a trace of anger simmering beneath his words.
Bert, picking up on it, dropped the subject. Out of the corner of his eye, he snuck glances at Tyler, thinking that if Tyler could only see his own expression when he spoke like this, maybe he’d realize he looked like a kicked puppy—utterly abandoned and pitiful.
Tyler had spent another two years in the hospital, and whatever fever he’d had for life seemed to have cooled for good.
The moment he stepped out of the hospital and slid into the car, he fished out a cigarette and lit up.
He hadn’t smoked for days; the craving had been driving him half mad.
Bert, behind the wheel, tried to lighten the mood. “You haven’t gone out with us in ages. How about hitting the town tonight for a drink or two?”
“Not interested.”
Tyler leaned against the window, cigarette between his fingers, watching the city blur past. Suddenly, he was struck by how pointless everything felt.
How did he get by before Athena came into his life? He couldn’t remember anymore.
The aftermath of falling in love was a real punch to the gut. He was starting to regret his choices all over again.
He took a long drag, finishing the cigarette in a few deep pulls.
“I’m getting this mole removed,” he announced.
Bert looked genuinely surprised, then burst out laughing.
“Since when did you start caring about stuff like that? Honestly, I think it suits you. I’ve overheard plenty of women talking—they love that little mark on your face.”
Tyler sounded almost defiant, like he was trying to prove a point.
“I’m still getting it taken off. I want her to regret it.”
Bert wisely kept quiet about who “her” was. Was Tyler really trying to make someone regret, or did he just want her attention?
Without another word, Bert hit the gas, deciding to humor him and drive to the clinic.
But when they pulled up outside, Tyler hesitated.
“What if I go through with this…and Athena doesn’t like me anymore?”
As soon as he said it, he regretted it, avoiding Bert’s gaze.
Bert had been reaching for a smoke himself, but the words caught him off guard so badly that the cigarette slipped from his hand and fell to the floor.
He’d known Tyler for years, and not once had he heard him talk like this.
The old Tyler never cared what women thought. If they didn’t like him, he was glad—less drama, more freedom. He never let anyone get close enough to mess up his life.
But now…
Tyler caught sight of the dropped cigarette and knew he’d startled Bert.

The readers' comments on the novel: Dear Ex-wife Marry Me novel (Maja)
Author, would you story about Ryan settling down and another story on Eric regaining his body and memories back from Patrick, and Eric also settling down as I find it so disheartening for him to have gone through what he went through at the research institute, and I'll like for him to get his "golden boy" life back though, not at the detriment of Ian....
When will the author update to finish Beck's story? What about Dylan and Tyler's love lives? Also, I'll like the author to write on Wilma and Elvis ending up together as she was quite persistent in pursuing him. And Shawn's story, Cornelia Sullivan and Omar Casson. Also, a little write-up on Jeff (Ian's assistant) love life, too. Thanks, author for updating....
When will get update?...
