i’m not sure about that, Ms Johnston is there something you need from Mr. Lynn? You can call him, or I can pass along a message for you, Bobby offered
Terese thought for a moment but then shook her head. “No, it’s nothing important.” With Jonathan not around, she obviously couldn’t say those things to his secretary.
Bobby watched Teresa leave and noticed the worried frown on her face. He hesitated for a moment before deciding to give Jonathan a call. “Mr. Lynn, Ms. Johnston just stopped by the office to see you,” Bobby reported.
Jonathan was caught off guard for a second. Then he asked, “Did she say what she wanted?”
“She didn’t mention anything specific. I already told her you were in Jarisburg,” Bobby replied.
“And you didn’t tell her to call me if she needed something?” Jonathan pressed.
did tell her. She said she understood and then left,” Bobby replied.
Jonathan hung up the phone and quickly checked his call log, worried he might have missed a call from Teresa. But there was nothing–no missed calls, no messages
He thought for a moment, wondering if Teresa really had something urgent that made her come to the office to find him.
He thought, ‘Could it be that she needed me for something?‘ Then he decided to give her a call.
“The person you’re calling is currently on another call…” the automated voice droned.
Jonathan frowned and then ended the call.
“Jonathan.” Evelyn called out to him and said, “Could you please help Lucas with his discharge? He doesn’t want to stay in the hospital anymore. I’m planning to take him back to Nareigh so he can get some proper rest for a while.”
“Sure,” Jonathan replied. “I’ll book your tickets. When do you want to leave?”
“Tonight, if possible, Isabel’s still at home. She’s still little and is missing me,” Evelyn explained.
“I see,” Jonathan said, starting to make the arrangements.
Evelyn thanked Jonathan for his help over the past few days. “There’s one more thing, Jonathan. It’s about Peggy’s lawsuit.”
She knew Jonathan had been handling Peggy’s case all this time, and she hoped he could show some leniency. Whatever sentence Peggy received–even
if it was years in prison–she just didn’t want it to be the death penalty.
“Evelyn, it’s not about me going easy on her. She hurt you and Lucas. Are you sure you want to let her off that easily?” Jonathan asked.
