Half an hour earlier, Jonathan had just left Yanamen. He decided not to stay the night and told his secretary, Bobby, “We need to finalize the deal today. Call the client now.”

“Mr. Lynn, why don’t we wait until tomorrow? You should rest at the hotel for a bit,” Bobby said, worried that Jonathan might be pushing himself too hard.

“I’m not tired. I want to head back to Nareigh early,” Jonathan replied.

The night view was stunning, but Jonathan couldn’t care less. He was always worried about Teresa.

‘She promised she’d be good and wait for me to come back. Maybe she’ll listen this time?‘ Jonathan thought to himself.

Just then, Jonathan’s phone rang. Seeing Benny’s name flash on the screen, he frowned and answered.

“I’m busy right now. I don’t have time to talk to you-” Jonathan started.

“Is your mom crazy or what?” Benny didn’t waste any time and spat out. “She wants to take Teresa to court and fight for custody? You didn’t sign off on this, did you?”

Jonathan lost his composure. He strode off to a quiet, deserted spot and demanded that Benny spell it out.

‘Irene is just Mike’s Grandma. How could she even think she has the right to take him? What the hell is going on?‘ Jonathan thought.

Benny said, “I saw it while checking office files. Your mom is suing Teresa for custody. She claims Teresa is broken, unhealthy, and even mentally unstable. Has your mom lost her mind?”

Jonathan froze, completely blindsided. If Benny hadn’t warned him, he never would’ve imagined Irene would do something like this behind

his back.

“I need to talk to my mom. Maybe she has lost her mind,” Jonathan muttered.

But when he tried calling Irene, he couldn’t get through.

Jonathan called Teresa, hoping she’d ignore Irene and wait før him to return. He prayed she wouldn’t believe anything Irene said, even if she threatened her with a lawsuit, but he couldn’t get through to Teresa either.

“Book me the fastest flight back to Nareigh,” Jonathan ordered. He had lost it.

“Mr. Lynn, there aren’t any more flights from Eleneburg to Nareigh tonight. The soonest direct one is at 8 AM tomorrow,” Bobby reported.

“And you still have a business meeting coming up,” Bobby reminded him.

Jonathan was getting impatient. “I don’t have time to care about any of that right now,” he said.

Teresa wasn’t answering, and neither was Irene. That uneasy feeling in Jonathan’s chest just kept getting worse.

He called the hospital and was shocked to learn that Teresa had already checked herself out. Jonathan’s frown deepened.

“Ms. Johnston said she was going home to grab some clothes and would be back soon,” the hospital staff explained.

“She tricked you,” Jonathan said flatly and then hung up, speechless.

He had bought her plenty of new clothes and had them delivered to the hospital before he left, so there was no way she didn’t have anything
