“Oh.” Teresa lazily glanced at Jonathan. “Did you put him up to this?”

“Nope, I didn’t,” Jonathan said, sitting up straight and looking serious.

When they got home, Jonathan checked his phone and saw that the missed call was from Hayden.

Hayden was pissed, grilling Jonathan about why he didn’t answer. Apparently, tomorrow was Jonathan’s birthday, and the whole family wanted to corte over and celebrate.

Jonathan glanced at the calendar and realized that tomorrow was the eighth. His birthday was on November eighth.

“Grandpa, I would’ve totally forgotten if you hadn’t mentioned it. Honestly, we don’t need to make a big deal out of my birthday,” Jonathan ald

Hayden snorted, “It’s not for you. We’re just coming over to see Teresa and the kid.” Jonathan stared at the screen, speechless.

The next morning, at Forlisle Rose Estates, Irene was going to come too, but as soon as she heard Gary would be there, she changed her mind and decided not to go.

Werner was pushing Hayden in his wheelchair, and Gary and Edward were there too. Donald showed up fashionably late, bringing a gift for Jonathan, which he accepted without fuss.

Cheryl had actually wanted to come, but the moment she heard Hayden would be there, she immediately backed out and didn’t dare show up.

So with both Cheryl and Irene absent, Teresa found herself surrounded by familiar faces. She encouraged Michael to greet everyone. It took him a good two minutes just to say hello to everyone.

“Mom, I’m starving. Can we start eating now?” Michael whined.

“Alright, let’s eat,” Teresa said, giving Michael a little pat on the shoulder as they sat down together.

“Daddy, happy birthday. This is my present for you.” Michael chirped, his eyes sparkling as he handed over his gift.

Michael handed over his gift with both hands. It was a self–portrait that he had specially drawn for Jonathan, which left everyone present absolutely

stunned.

At just three years old, Michael already showed incredible artistic talent. He’d managed to capture about 70% of Jonathan’s features and expression in the drawing. It was hard to imagine how amazing he’d be in the future.

Just as Jonathan was about to say something, Teresa cut in first. “Takes after me–artistic genes run strong in our family.”

Jonathan couldn’t help but laugh, His smile was so warm and different that Michael, sitting in his lap, was completely stunned. He couldn’t help but Swoon over his dad.

Gary chimed in. “Look, Jonathan is so handsome, not even a single laugh line on his face.”

Donald added, “That’s just because he never smiles,”

Edward, who had been grinning from ear to ear, immediately stopped, not daring to show his teeth anymore.

“Happy birthday.” Everyone had their own way of addressing him. All of them sent their birthday wishes to Jonathan.

After everyone else had finished, Teresa was the last to speak. She looked at Jonathan and softly said, “Happy birthday.”

Hayden chuckled and teased. “Teresa, aren’t you forgetting something?”
