Irene saw the news that Jonathan was taken away by the Department of Justice. It felt like someone had purposely sent her a message to Up for on, she tried to contact Jonathan right away, but couldn’t get through.

‘But what if he never comes back?‘ Irene thought. Her legs suddenly got weak.

“Mrs. Lynn.” Bobby rushed over and caught Irene just as she was about to collapse.

Irene’s face went completely white, her lips trembling. “I saw on the news. They’re saying Jonathan allegedly made 10 million dollars through insider trading. That’s just impossible. He’s already so wealthy. Why would he risk everything for just 10 million dollars?”

“That’s right, Mr. Lynn would never do something like that. Please try not to worry, I’ll get you a glass of water,” Bobby said gently. While Bobby was gone to get the water, Irene left.

Irene just couldn’t calm down. Jonathan was her pillar of strength. If he fell, she couldn’t even imagine how miserable, helpless, and desolate the rest of her life would become. She’d have to face criticism and attacks from every direction.

But what terrified her the most was that if Jonathan was really found guilty of insider trading, paying compensation would only be part of it. He could even be sentenced to five years or more in prison.

Jonathan once stood above everyone else. How could I possibly accept that he is suddenly going to prison?‘ Irene thought, simply unable to accept it. Without wasting a second, Irene rushed straight to Rosary Estates.

“Teresa, get out here. I know you’re in there. This is all your fault, you vixen. Did you tempt Jonathan into breaking the law? Now the police have taken him away. Get out here, right now.” Irene screamed.

The door suddenly swung open. Irene froze when she saw Jennifer’s dark, stormy face. The memory of Jennifer slapping her hard several times was still vivid in her mind, and she instinctively took a few steps back.

“Where’s Teresa?” Irene demanded.

“She’s not here,” Jennifer replied.

“I don’t believe you. I need to see her. I have to ask her what she’s up to,” Irene said, pushing past Jennifer and barging inside.

Irene shoved Jennifer aside and stormed in, glancing around, but Teresa was nowhere to be found. Irene thought Jennifer must have hidden Teresa somewhere.

“Get Teresa out here. I need to talk to her. If Jonathan ends up in prison, I swear I’ll make sure your sister suffers from it,” Irene screamed.

Jennifer shoved Irene hard, knocking her straight to the ground. She’d seen the news too. Jennifer snapped, “Watch your mouth. If Jonathan didn’t break the law, he’d be out soon enough. Why are you blaming Teresa for your own mess?”

“How is it not her fault? Every time Jonathan gets tangled up with her, nothing good ever happens. She’s a total jinx.” Irene shot back.

“You’re the real jinx. You always turn to Teresa when in trouble. She endured you for so long and finally freed herself through divorce. Now, Jonathan’s life is a mess–all because of you. You should be the one locked up.” Jennifer fired back.

Jennifer got right in Irene’s face, their noses almost touching. Irene instinctively covered her face, which had only just healed from the last time Jennifer slapped her. “Are you going to hit me again? Help! She’s going to hit me again.”
