Jennifer was younger and taller than Irene, so she easily pulled her away. “Isn’t the reason you’ve been single all these years because you’re so vicour you basically killed your own husband?” Jennifer sneered.
That line completely struck Irene’s sore spot. Yorick was her bottom line, and now Jennifer was accusing her of causing his death. Irene lost it and started lashing out at Jennifer, but Jennifer just shoved her right out the door.
Irene pounded on the door, yelling, “You just wait. I won’t let you get away with it this time.”
Jennifer sneered, “Go ahead, old hag. If you’ve got any tricks, bring them on.”
“You’d better get ready for jail.” Irene’s voice echoed before fading away.
Meanwhile, Teresa was stuck at Forlisle Rose Estates, worried sick about Jonathan. She couldn’t get out, and no one could get in. Suddenly, her phone rang. It was an unknown number, but she answered it anyway.
“It’s me.” Teresa instantly recognized Irene’s voice.
Before she could even ask, Irene struck first. “Teresa, if anything happens to my son, I won’t let you off. Jennifer is an example. This time, I won’t rest until she goes to jail.”
With a loud click, the call ended. Teresa had a bad feeling. ‘What now? What happened between Jennifer and Irene this time?‘ Teresa couldn’t help but wonder.
After contacting the police station, Teresa found out that Jennifer had been taken to the police station again just an hour ago. This time, things were way worse than last time.
Irene had gotten her hands on evidence and reported Jennifer for tampering with DNA tests multiple times while she was working at the hospital. Jennifer was now in criminal detention.
Even though Jennifer had already resigned, all the records of her tampering with DNA tests at the hospital were still there. This was a blemish on Jennifer’s life that she could never wash away.
The police said that last time, when Jennifer hit Irene, they could still try to work things out with compensation. But this time, Jennifer was facing criminal charges, and there was no easy way out like before.
Teresa realized that Irene was out for blood this time. She was going to settle all their old scores once and for all. Just then, her phone rang again. It was
Benny.
“I reviewed the case involving Jonathan. He’ll most likely be fine, but he’ll have to undergo two days of investigation. He’s purely being targeted. The other side probably bribed someone from his company to act as an inside informant, working both from within and outside.”
“You mean there’s a mole in Horizon lead Group?” Teresa asked.
“For sure. And I bet this mole is hiding somewhere high up in the ranks. Don’t worry, once Jonathan gets out, he’ll definitely clean house.” Benny reassured her.
Benny’s words eased Teresa’s worries a little. At least Jonathan was okay, and Teresa hoped he’d be out soon to find out who set him up. But she still couldn’t shake off her anxiety. Her heart was hanging in midair.
She brought up Jennifer’s situation to Benny. “Benny, since Jennifer isn’t a doctor anymore, can Irene still go after her to forge thos Teresa asked.
rts back then?”
Benny said, “That’s possible. If she broke the law while employed, she could be sued by the victim within three years, even after leaving the job. Jennifer’s situation looks dicey. With Jonathan away and his mom causing trouble, this lawsuit is inevitable.”
Teresa’s heart skipped a beat. “What’s the sentence looking like for her?” she asked.

Chapter 910
“Up to three years in prison or detention,” Benny replied.
Teresa clenched her fists. She asked, “Is there any other way, Benny?” Benny looked troubled.
This was a criminal offense that had been covered up by Jonathan, but now frene had completely exposed it. If lightly sentenced, she could have mos as little as six months; if heavily sentenced, up to three years. There was no escaping this.
Teresa sucked in a sharp breath. Jennifer doesn’t even thought.
have a job right now. If she ends up with a criminal record, it would definitely ruin her future, she
“Is there really no other way?” Teresa asked.
Benny nodded. “Jennifer abused her authority and broke the
law. This is perjury, plain and simple.”
Every crime came with a price. Teresa knew that. She gripped the edge of the table, forcing herself to stay calm. “Is there any way to make the damage as small as possible?”
Benny said, “If we prove Jennifer forged the document not for money or to frame someone, she can get a lighter sentence. We need Jonathan’s statement and forgiveness, and Jennifer must explain the situation clearly for a reduced penalty.”
That was already the best possible outcome Benny could offer. After all, when Jennifer abused her position to forge those DNA tests, the direct victim was Jonathan. Jonathan himself had to come forward for this.
“Teresa? Teresa?” Benny called out.
“I’m listening,” Teresa replied, though her mind was spinning. ‘What can I even do right now?‘ she wondered.
Benny hurriedly said, “Listen, what you need to do now is stay calm. Jonathan made me promise to keep you steady. Don’t think about shouldering Jennifer’s or Jonathan’s burdens.
“As a soon–to–be mom, your priority is taking care of yourself. Others and we, your friends and family, along with Jonathan’s brothers, will handle the
rest.”
Teresa listened quietly, taking a deep breath before nodding. “I get it.”
Benny tried to lighten the mood. “Seriously, if you get stressed and something happens to the baby, that’s the real problem. You get what I mean? You’re carrying a life in there.”
Teresa nodded and hung up the phone, not wanting to talk any longer. Right after, Donald called her. Donald already knew Jennifer had been detained again, and this time it was really serious.
