Yalena was always talking trash about Teresa in front of Eason and Katrina, so the two of them had long been convinced Teresa was nothing but trouble.
So Eason kept sneering at Teresa, “You’re pretty stubborn, aren’t you? There’s no way I’m letting Jonathan off the hook this time. He messed with the Kelly family and hurt Yalena. This is all just his karma.”
The black Bentley drove off. It headed toward the villa next to Teresa’s.
Teresa frowned, recalling what Eason had just said, “I didn’t want to go after him, but he was the one who wronged my family and Yalena first.”
‘Could it be that Jonathan’s sudden investigation this time was orchestrated by Eason?‘ Teresa wondered, a chill running down her spine.
Seeing that Teresa was still trying to leave, the security guard rushed to block her again, looking like he was about to burst
into tears.
“Ms. Johnston, I’m really begging you here. You can’t even take a single step out of the villa this time. If Mr. Lynn comes back and finds out, he’ll never forgive any of us.” The guard pleaded desperately.
Teresa snapped back to reality. ‘If I stay here, what about Mike? I have no idea where he’s gone,‘ she thought anxiously.
Just then. Jennifer’s phone rang. It was a call from Gary. “Sorry, Teresa. My phone had been silent while I was busy talking to the police about Jennifer, so I only just saw your call,” he said.
“Did Mike get in your car? Did he go to the police station with you?” Teresa asked anxiously.
“Yeah, Mike’s totally fine,” Gary assured her.
Gary didn’t try to hide anything. “I had no idea he was in the car. I only found out after I got out. Benny will bring Mike back home in a bit.”
Teresa finally let out a sigh of relief. ‘As long as Mike’s safe, that’s all that matters. Otherwise, even if it was hailing outside, I would have rushed out. No one could have stopped me,‘ she thought.
Finally, as evening fell, Benny brought Michael back. Michael was already fast asleep on Benny’s shoulder. Benny gently laid the child on the couch and explained to Teresa why Michael had slipped out. The kid was just too worried about Jonathan.
“Now I really get what they mean by father and son’s connections,” Benny said with a sigh. “Mike was so worried about Jonathan, he spent the whole afternoon at the Department of Justice.”
Teresa looked at the sleeping Michael, her heart aching as she gently stroked his cheek and covered him with a blanket. “Is he okay?” she asked softly. It was already dark, and Jonathan still hadn’t come back.
Benny asked, “Who are you talking about?” He wasn’t sure if Teresa meant Jonathan or Jennifer
Teresa replied, “Of course, I mean Jonathan.”
Benny let out a sigh. “You two are really on the same wavelength. He asked me about you too. I told him you were doing fine at home. He told me to make sure you stay home and not go out alone.”
Teresa’s throat tightened, and she couldn’t get a word out, her emotions stuck somewhere between her chest and her mouth.
Then Benny added, “Jonathan’s worried that what’s happening to him might drag your company into trouble too, so he said you should stay away from the office for now.”
