Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 362

At noon, just as Emmy finished piling an entire shelf of Legos into her cart for Ollie, her phone started ringing out of nowhere.

It was an unknown number.

She picked up. A deep, steady voice—one she hadn’t heard in a long time—came through the line.

“Emmy, it’s Mr. Sparrow.”

She froze. Dean’s father, Ben.

“I’d like to talk. Meet me at Hollow Valley Café. I’m here now.”

Emmy tightened her grip on the phone.

Back in those seven years—her last life—the whole Sparrow family had gossiped about her behind her back, blaming her for not having a child. The only one who never gave her a hard time was Mr. Sparrow. No matter what happened with Dean, Emmy couldn’t bring herself to disrespect the one elder who’d always treated her kindly.

“Okay, Mr. Sparrow. I’ll be there soon.”

She hung up, handed Ollie and the mountain of toys to a bodyguard, and gave a quiet, firm instruction. “Keep an eye on him.”

Then, with just one bodyguard in tow, she headed for the café.

Hollow Valley Café wasn’t far—just around the corner from the mall.

When Emmy walked in, she spotted him instantly by the window: calm, dignified, and unmistakably out of place in the busy café.

Mr. Sparrow had started out in business when he was young, but switched to politics twenty years ago, almost on a whim. The whole Sparrow empire—the family’s status, fortune, everything—had been built by him. Still, he’d handed it all over to capable managers early on and never looked back.

Sparrow Group stayed strong. Successful, but never dominant. That was, until Dean came back.

The first thing Dean did was call off their engagement. The second was to take control of the company. Unlike her, Dean was the rightful heir, a man with the authority and freedom to do as he pleased. And he didn’t have to fight hard for it. Once he was in charge, he used his knowledge of the past—well, his past life—to snap up resources, pushing Sparrow Group to the top of the city’s business world, second only to Nelson Corporation.

Mr. Sparrow, though, never meddled with the company after going into politics. He didn’t seem to care about money or status. He could’ve run for president if he wanted, but he never made any moves for his own gain. After his wife—Dean’s mother—passed away, he never remarried.
