Dumped My Cheating Ex. Now I'm Sleeping Next to a Billionaire CEO novel Chapter 363

Emmy listened to Ben’s gentle voice, her guard finally easing just a little.

She shook her head with a soft smile. “How could I ever blame you? You’ve always treated me so well. I remember all of it.”

Relief softened Ben’s face. “That’s good to hear. Really good.”

He let out a long breath, the affection in his words clear. “I watched you grow up, you know. Honestly, you’re even closer to me than a real daughter ever could be.”

“If you and Dean hadn’t been promised to each other since you were kids, Sally and I always said we’d make you our goddaughter. But… well…” Ben sighed, regret heavy in his voice.

Emmy dropped her gaze, staying quiet.

But then Ben’s tone changed. His eyes, always so kind, grew sharper.

“Emmy, tell me the truth. Deep down… do you still have feelings for Dean?”

Emmy opened her mouth to answer, but he lifted a hand, gently stopping her.

“Don’t answer just yet.”

“You two grew up together. Everyone could see how close you were. You were the golden couple, everyone said so.”

“You argued sometimes, sure, but everything always smoothed out in the end. But this broken engagement—it really hurt your reputation.”

“I get it. If you were angry and married someone else just to spite him, I understand.”

“But I want you to be happy. I don’t want you to make a choice you’ll regret for the rest of your life.”

“It’s been a while now, and I’ve noticed Dean hasn’t seen Evelina again. He stays up late in his study, sometimes comes home drunk, and even then he only ever says your name.”

“Maybe he’s regretting his choices. Maybe he just doesn’t know how to admit it.”

“Maybe all he needs is a chance to make things right.”

Ben’s words were heavy, his eyes pleading.

“Emmy, just give him that chance, okay?”

The warmth left Emmy’s face. Her brows drew together.

“Mr. Sparrow, whatever Dean and I had… it’s over.”

“If you came here to talk me into getting back together with him, it’s pointless. I’m happy with my husband now.”

But Ben kept staring, as if he could see right through her.

“Be honest with yourself, Emmy. Do you really love your husband?”

“I’ve been through enough to know—if you lose the one you truly love, you’ll never stop thinking about it.”
