Emmy’s heart nearly skipped a beat.
Right next to her, someone let out a high-pitched scream.
“Oh my God! Look at them! Are those the special forces everyone talks about? They’re a hundred times hotter than on TV!”
“Seriously, that body, that vibe… I feel safer just being near them!”
“So manly! Even with all that gear, you can tell they’re nothing but muscle!”
“I could cry. I just want to marry one of them! That’s what a real man looks like!”
It didn’t matter that those men wore masks that covered everything but their eyes. Some had goggles on, too. They were wrapped up head to toe, not a single bit of skin showing.
Still, just standing there, they gave off this raw, unshakable power. You could feel it in your bones. The strength and intensity they radiated was enough to get everyone’s adrenaline pumping.
Emmy’s heart raced out of control. She couldn’t help but stare.
Her eyes followed the tallest guy in the group, watching him turn with cool precision and disappear around the corner. Only then did she force herself to look away.
A police officer walked over, glancing around. “Is Emmy here? Which one of you is Miss Emmy?”
Emmy shot her hand up. “That’s me. I’m Emmy.”
She fumbled for her ID and handed it over.
The officer checked it, then said, “We’re finishing up here. We’ll need you to come to the station to give a statement, if that’s okay.”
Emmy glanced at the accident scene, then nodded. “Sure. Thanks for your help.”
She turned to Krystina. “I’ll go with the police to give my statement. Can you take Ollie home?”
Krystina nodded. “No problem. I’m staying at a hotel in South Bay. Call me if you need anything.”
She hesitated, then added, “Actually, I’m going to stay in the city for a couple more days. I want to be here until you win your case.”
