Ex-Alpha's Regret: Siren's Comeback novel Chapter 38

POV: Seraphina

The moment Sylvie walked away, her victorious smirk a final twist of the knife, the panic gave way to a cold, calculating fury. She thought she had me checkmated. She thought my compassion was a weakness she could exploit. She was wrong. My compassion was a responsibility, and I would not let Martha become a casualty in my war.

I retreated to the library, my mind racing. I couldn't run. Not yet. Not until Martha was beyond Sylvie's venomous reach. But I would not sit here and wait to be her next victim, either. I was not a passive pawn in her game. I was a player.

I pulled out the burner phone, my fingers flying across the keypad, my message to my father's Beta, Elias, brief and urgent.

"New priority. Immediate extraction and deep relocation required for civilian asset, Martha, former Omega servant of Blackwood manor. Hostile party aware of connection. Asset is in extreme danger. Requires new identity, legend, and placement in territories outside the Northern Alliance's sphere of influence. Highest priority. Total deniability essential."

It was a huge request. An operation of this complexity—creating a new life out of thin air for someone, erasing their past completely—was costly and difficult. It required pulling strings and calling in favors that could expose my family's network. But there was no other choice.

The reply from Elias came within the hour.

"Understood, Luna. This is complex. To ensure asset's absolute long-term safety and leave no traceable trail for Blackwood intelligence, we will need time. Three days minimum to establish the new identity and secure a safe route. I will handle it personally. Await my signal."

Her loyalty was a shield, a fire in the suffocating cold of this house. For her, I would endure anything Sylvie threw at me for three more days. I would play the part of the broken, defeated Luna. I would let her think she had won.

But on the third day, when Martha was safe, the real game would begin.

I deleted the messages, a cold smile touching my lips for the first time that day.
