Edith and Daniel objected at the same time.

“We need to work together on this. I’ll go to the Kyle family and see how Paloma ended up there with amnesia. You two should return home and help at Project Azureveil headquarters,” Amelia said, her voice steady and calm.

Amelia analyzed the situation rationally.

From the way things looked right now, Aiden was only after her.

Amelia sighed. “Daniel, no matter how strong an outsider is, it’s hard to fight someone with home advantage. This is Aiden’s territory.”

“I still worry about you,” he admitted.

Amelia arched an eyebrow and gave a soft, reassuring laugh. “I know.”

“Daniel, walking right into the tiger’s den is the best way. When you come for me, you can take Kayla home too,” Amelia said.

Daniel pulled her into a hug, finally relenting. “Okay…”

After getting herself together, Amelia unblocked/Aiden from her blacklist.

“Mrs. Kingsley–oh, wait! Miss Edwards, you finally called me,” Aiden answered, his voice between them, like they were still the best of friends.

“Where’s Kayla?” Amelia asked.

“Great, how about we give them a ride to the airport?” Aiden suggested.

He actually phrased it as a question–one could still sense a measure of respect in his tone.

Daniel stayed quiet.

Men like Aiden were the scariest when they went dark.

Suddenly, a lightbulb went off in Daniel’s mind–he thought of Jonas.

‘If I could get Jonas to infiltrate the Kyle family…‘ Daniel mused.

“Edith, can you get Jonas to come over?” Daniel asked.

“Uncle Jonas? I’ll try to reach out to him once we’re back in the capital,” Edith replied.

“Okay.” Daniel nodded.

Jonas had a special kind of respect for Landon. If he was willing to help, that would be ideal.

And if he wasn’t, Daniel had plenty of ways to make him say yes.

Before long, Aiden showed up in person. “Miss Edwards, I’m here to pick you up.”

“You should just call me Mrs. Kingsley,” Amelia said with a frown. “I’m not a ‘miss‘ anymore. I’m married.”

“But you’re a widow now,” Aiden pointed out.

“That still makes me Mrs. Kingsley!” Amelia retorted/

Amelia shot Aiden a fierce glare, standing firmly at the doorway, refusing to take a single step further.

It wasn’t until Daniel and Edith were about to board their flight.

“Mr. Zuckerberg, let’s not cross paths for a while,” Aiden said, and there was a deeper meaning behind his words.

Everyone got the message.

Daniel’s eyes were practically on fire.

Edith pinched his hand, and he managed to hold back.

He looked at Amelia, the one he’d worked so hard to find. “Amelia, take care of yourself.”

“Of course!” Amelia said, raising an eyebrow, deliberately putting on a show of being at ease.

The boarding announcement started playing over the speakers.

Every part of Daniel screamed not to leave Amelia here, alone to deal with Aiden, that obsessive madman.

“Daniel, we need to board now,” Edith said, grabbing his arm and pulling him toward the gate.

The airport was bustling with people, and soon their figures were swallowed up by the crowd.

Aiden smiled softly. “Mrs. Kingsley, let’s go!”

“Mm,” Amelia replied.

Amelia looked away and followed Aiden to the Kyle family manor.

From this moment on, she wouldn’t be able to leave anytime soon.

‘Landon, when are you coming to take me home?‘ Amelia wondered to herself.

‘No matter where you are, don’t forget. I and our baby are waiting for you to bring us home!‘ she thought, her heart full of longing.

The Kyle family’s vast, park–like estate left Amelia absolutely stunned.

‘How rich and powerful must someone be to afford a house like this?‘ she couldn’t help but marvel.

Aiden had the driver slow down, taking his time to show Amelia every corner of the manor–he was clearly flaunting it, proud as could be.
