Chapter 242
Chapter 242
Amelia’s suspicions grew even stronger. ‘I’m afraid this Kayla is a lake…
‘Then where did the real Kayla go?‘
She recalled that day at the mall when Elaine suddenly showed up and started making commen
Afraid that Kayla might get too upset, Amelia suggested they go to the restroom.
When they came out, Elaine had already stopped making a fuss and left.
So!‘ Amelia thought. ‘The problem must have happened in the restroom!‘ she realized,
about Kayla’s face.
The Atkinson family had already thrown in their lot with the Kington Gang, and Elaine was deliberately trying to mislead everyone, giving the Kington Gang the perfect chance to pull a switch right under their noses.
The more Amelia thought about it, the more her heart pounded—this was getting scarier by the second.
“Amelia, don’t be scared,” Gloria said, hugging Amelia. “Landon will be fine.”
“Mom, does Kayla have any birthmarks on her body?” Amelia asked softly.
Gloria replied, “Yes, she has a red mole on her lower back, about three inches above her waist. Why do you ask?”
“It’s nothing, it just popped into my head,” Amelia said, lowering her eyes. She didn’t dare share her suspicions with Gloria.
With that birthmark, Landon and Tuff would eventually realize that the Kayla at home was a fake.
And when that time comes, that’s when things could finally change for the better!
“Amelia, do you really think Landon went through with the surgery?” Glorja asked, her
voice trembling with worry.
Her daughter was already broken, and now she and Amelia were just clinging to the hope that Landon would come to their rescue.
If Landon’s surgery failed…
Gloria shivered, unable to let her mind go any further down that dark path.
Fat tears of grievance rolled down her cheeks. “I carried my child for ten months, raised them with all my heart, and now… how did things end up like
this?”
“Mom, Landon will come back to us, safe and sound,” Amelia said, gently rubbing her belly, her heart a whirlwind of emotions.
He would never just leave me and our baby behind. No way!‘ Amelia told herself.
Maybe that surgery Tuff talked about never even existed,‘ Amelia tried to reassure herself, but her brow stayed tightly furrowed.
Suddenly, a loud commotion erupted outside, and Aiden’s voice rang out, harsh and commanding. “I have to see her
“Mom, let’s go check it out,” Amelia said.
In the Kington Gang, the Kyle family held absolute power.
If Kayla were a fake, there was no way she could do anything to Aiden.
“Aiden, I’m your sister, Kayla! You need to listen to me. Especially, don’t argue with me here,” Kayla said, standing behind the fence, facing off against
Aiden.

Aiden sneered. “Then let me see her!”
“Now’s not the time. You should go back home right now. Once all this is over, she’ll be yours,” Kayla said.
“I know you if you can’t have her, you’ll never treat her right!” Aiden shot back.
“Aiden! I promise you, I won’t hurt her,” Kayla said.
“I don’t care what you say! I just have to see her. I won’t be at ease until I see her with my own eyes,” Aiden shot back, his tone stubborn as ever,
Aiden’s obsession was acting up again–he just wouldn’t give up until he got his way.
Even from behind, Amelia could tell that Kayla was clearly exasperated just dealing with him.
She quietly curled her lips into a silent smile.
“Amelia, he…” Gloria started, her voice trembling with fear.
That man was here to take Amelia away from her, but as her mom, Gloria couldn’t do a thing about it—she just felt so helpless.
“Mom, right now, he’s our biggest shield,” Amelia reassured her.
Gloria stared at her in surprise.
“He likes me, so as long as that’s true, we’ll be safe,” Amelia added.
Gloria fell silent.
What Amelia said was true. But as a mother–in–law, Gloria couldn’t just stand by and watch another man set his sights on her daughter–in–law.
“Mom, no matter what happens, just don’t make him angry,” Amelia said.
“Amelia…” Gloria started.
“Mom, I know what I’m doing. Just listen to me,” Amelia said.
Gloria’s heart was a whirlwind of emotions, but in the end, she finally agreed. “Okay.”
The two of them had reached an understanding, but meanwhile, Kayla and Aiden were still at each other’s throats.
In the end, Kayla was forced to back down.
Aiden strode into the Kingsley family home with his head held high.
After spending some time in prison, he looked pretty scruffy. But the moment he stepped into the Kingsley family home, he instantly straightened up, his confidence returning in full force.
Kayla followed behind him, looking both annoyed and helpless.
Amelia watched them, and once again, she picked up on something strange–this Kayla just didn’t have the same
The real Kayla could put Aiden in his place with just a single glance.
She’s definitely a fake!‘ Amelia thought to herself.
‘But where did they take the real Kayla?‘ she wondered anxiously.
Landon, I’ve already smelled something fishy. Bet you’ve caught on too, haven’t you?‘ Amelia thought.
or authority as Aiden.
Chapter 242
‘So you never actually had the surgery–you were just faking it to stall them, right?‘ she wondered.
“Amelia, are you okay?” Aiden came up to her and asked.
Amelia quickly composed herself, shaking her head with a touch of grievance. “No, I’m not.”
“Did she mistreat you?” Aiden’s anger erupted instantly.
Amelia looked at Kayla–same height, same build, even the scar on her face was identical.
There’s no way such a flawless stand–in could have been made overnight.
‘Someone must have been planning this replacement Kayla for a long time… The more Amelia thought about it, the scarier it got
“What did she do to you?” Aiden asked, his gaze as sharp and cold as a knife, aimed right at Kayla.
Kayla was fuming inside but forced herself to hold it in. “Amelia, just tell the truth.”
“She didn’t do anything,” Amelia said.
