Chapter 425
Time flew by. It was May. Amelia’s baby bump was starting to show.

Normally, early pregnancy symptoms would fade after the first trimester, but Amelia’s temper got even worse instead of calming down.
She kept randomly losing her temper, and even she was speechless at herself afterward.
One day at a prenatal check–up, Amelia heard people chatting about genetics, and suddenly she remembered her mom losing her mind.
She instantly felt a wave of panic and confusion.
“Landon, am I losing my mind? Should I go see a psychiatrist?” Amelia asked, her voice trembling. She couldn’t really remember what those years were like when Catherine went insane, but just thinking about it made her heart race with fear.
‘I don’t want to go crazy!‘ Amelia thought desperately.
“No way. It’s normal for pregnant women to be moody and irritable,” Landon said gently, trying to comfort her, though he was panicking inside.
He was regretting it more and more—maybe having a second child wasn’t such a good idea after all.
‘I’m putting my wife through all this suffering just for Kimsey,‘ he thought, guilt gnawing at him.
“Honey, I’m so scared… What if I end up losing my mind?” Amelia clutched at her collar, absolutely terrified.
Her mom had lost her mind and couldn’t protect her–that was why so many awful things happened to her afterward.
Amelia couldn’t imagine what would happen if she went crazy too.
“Don’t be scared, Honey. We’ve still got Kimsey, remember?” Landon put on a relaxed smile, trying to sound reassuring. “You’re just having some pregnancy mood swings right now. Even if you really did get sick, Kimsey would make you better.”
“Is that true? Really?” Amelia’s voice trembled, her eyes wide with worry.
Even after two months of nonstop mood swings, Amelia just couldn’t believe it was all because of the
pregnancy.
She stared at Landon, searching his face for some reassurance.
“Of course it is. If you were really sick, the doctors would have caught it, right?” Landon gently stroked her face, his touch full of love. “Don’t worry so much, Honey. You’ve got me.”
Amelia nodded softly, her voice trembling as she asked, “Landon, if I really lose my mind…. what would you do?” She looked at him, fear and uncertainty written all over her face.

“First off, there’s no way you’re going crazy. And even if you did, you’d still be my wife–no matter what. We promised to stick together till we’re old and gray, remember?” Landon said, his voice steady and full of warmth.
“Honey, just think about it–your family’s got your back. Do you really think I’d ever dare let you down? Daniel and the Hughes family would skin me alive!”
Amelia reminded herself, she was nothing like her mom.
Catherine had braved the world all alone, but Amelia had a whole squad ready to fight for her.
The Hughes family and the Zuckerberg family totally had her back. Even if she did lose her mind, they’d step in and look after her and the kids–no way they’d let anyone mess with them.
Thinking about all this, Amelia felt a bit more at ease, though she still felt bad. “Honey, I’m sorry… I really can’t help myself sometimes.”
“Hey, don’t worry about it. It’s just the pregnancy messing with your emotions,” Landon soothed her, not the slightest bit annoyed.
It wasn’t until Amelia had completely calmed down that she was finally able to enjoy her meal.
Lennon tugged his hat lower as he strolled past their table.
In a nondescript business car parked out in the restaurant lot, Porter sat there, nerves on edge, waiting for something to happen.
‘All these years trying to keep my mind clear, and I still can’t get rid of these distractions,‘ Porter thought, a little frustrated with himself.
As soon as Lennon climbed into the car, Porter couldn’t wait to ask, “How did it go?”
“Yeah, Amelia really is sick,” Lennon sighed, his usual bright smile nowhere to be seen.
“How bad is it?” Porter asked, his voice tight with worry.
“Porter, was it after Mrs. Hughes got pregnant that she started getting sick?” Lennon shot back instead of answering.
Pain flickered in Porter’s eyes. “She lost her mind twice. The first time was because of Joanna, and the second… it was after she got pregnant with Amy.”
“So, do you think Amelia inherited Mrs. Hughes’s illness?” Lennon asked again.
Porter fell silent, his grip tightening on the rosary beads in his hand.
Back then, after Catherine’s miraculous recovery, her mind was totally clear. They left Lunova behind and enjoyed a blissful time together, just the two of them.
Porter thought they’d spend the rest of their lives like that, but then trouble came up with the Zuckerberg family, and he had no choice but to head back to Lunova.
