Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 103

This woman—she always managed to sway his judgment and emotions so effortlessly.

Just a few words exchanged on the rooftop had made him realize that his desire for that tanzanite gem had nothing to do with Vivienne after all.

And then there was the bidding, the psychological game.

She was always so inscrutable, while he, in her presence, felt utterly transparent.

A chill flickered through Tyler's eyes.

He'd already warned her on the rooftop not to follow him anymore—and yet, had she calculated every move that followed right there and then?

After he kickstarted the bidding, she raised the price first to five million, then to ten—five times, ten times his offer. Each move, perfectly timed.

When Alexander joined in, and the two of them began their duel, she bid fifteen million, then twenty, watching closely for any sign of hesitation in him before making her exit at just the right moment.

She'd played him to perfection.

Even Tyler had to admit, despite the fact that she'd forced him to spend far more than he'd planned on that tanzanite, despite the humiliation of being outmaneuvered in front of everyone—

What he felt toward her now wasn't resentment.

It was admiration.

Her nerve, her tactics, her uncanny understanding of how his mind worked—she was a master.

He'd won, and yet he'd lost.

She'd lost, but in some ways, she'd won.

Who was she, really?

Meanwhile, on the second-floor balcony as the lights slowly dimmed, Alexander looked down at the woman slipping into the shadows.

"So she really is his daughter. If only he were still alive…"

As the last of the lights faded, Alexander let out a long sigh, shaking his head.

There are no ifs.

Just as his once-proud son had been swallowed by the sea, that brilliant young man had fallen from a high-rise, dying before the eyes of the daughter he loved most.

"Let's head home. I'm feeling rather tired," Alexander said, his voice suddenly sounding much older.

She'd understood the moment she heard Tyler's warning to her on the rooftop.

Some things are impossible.

But that never stopped her from trying.

Years of struggle in the Dennis family, everything she'd endured and learned—none of it was child's play.

She was Emilia.

Not Mrs. Erickson. Ms. Dennis. Emilia.

"But what about the tanzanite?" Christian's worry finally broke through. "Are you just going to let Tyler give it to Vivienne?"

He knew what it meant to her—it was something she'd chosen for her own child. Even this time, she'd brought it out for charity, to help sick children.

If Vivienne ended up with it…

Emilia didn't answer right away. Instead, she lifted her gaze to where Tyler sat across the room.
