"What's going on?" Owen took a sip of his whiskey and asked, "By the way, I heard the old man had you and Emilia come back to Lunar Manor today?"

"Yeah." Tyler answered simply, swirling the ice in his glass as he watched the throng of dancers below, expression unreadable.

"Is that why you're in such a lousy mood?" Owen pressed.

Tyler didn't respond right away. His mind was a tangled mess.

He kept replaying the image of Emilia in tears, refusing him, and Vivienne's words echoed relentlessly in his head.

On a whim, Tyler asked, "What happened with that woman you told me about last time—the one who called you a ‘bad apple?' Anything new?"

Just moments ago, Owen had been all swagger and bravado, eager for gossip. Now, he deflated in an instant.
