Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 15

"I think forcing someone's hand is even worse," she said quietly. "If you've already done it, you should be prepared to face whatever harsh words come your way."

Tyler's frown deepened. The look he gave her was far from pleased.

"Tyler, let me handle this." Before he could respond, Vivienne spoke up, her tone gentle and considerate.

The office lighting was warm, but Vivienne's crisp white suit made her look almost ghostly.

"Miss Emy, I truly love this song," Vivienne began, glancing at Tyler for a moment. "It resonates with me so much."

She took a breath. "It's all about falling in love with someone you keep hidden in your heart—fierce, secretive, tinged with insecurity. It captures the joy of giving yourself to someone, the happiness you gain…and…"

Vivienne's gaze dimmed. "And then, that bottomless despair when you know your days are numbered."

"That kind of despair that digs into your very bones."

"Miss Emy, that feeling nearly destroyed me. I know what it's like to be in so much pain you can't imagine going on."

"But what strikes me most about your song is how, in the end, it's about letting go."

She smiled faintly. "That's where I am now—accepting everything, letting it all go, and trying to spend my final days in peace."

Vivienne's voice trembled at times, then steadied, as if she'd weathered every storm life could throw at her. There was something heartbreakingly genuine about it.

The way Tyler looked at her only proved the point.

Emilia noticed, as Vivienne spoke of despair, the unmistakable tenderness in Tyler's eyes—a look she had never once seen directed at herself.

Her seven years with Tyler paled in comparison to the single year Vivienne had spent by his side.

Watching them, Emilia felt like she was seeing a couple bound together by tragedy and love.

The only problem was, she was the wife.

And none of it moved her.

How out of place she felt.

"Miss Emy, your song perfectly expresses everything I've been through lately. I really understand what you felt when you wrote it. I think, if you're going to sell this song, you'd want it to go to someone who truly gets it."

Vivienne seemed convinced she'd made her case, that Emilia would surely agree to sell the song now.

After all, if a song is to be sold, selling it to someone who understands it best is ideal.

If only it were that simple.

A million dollars—what a joke.

Given how unknown "Emy" was these days, a few tens of thousands would be a generous offer.

Tyler was offering a fortune, but only for Vivienne's sake.

The absurdity of it all nearly brought tears to her eyes.

Vivienne, growing impatient, snapped, "Miss Emy, this is already a very generous offer. I assume you've heard of ‘Voice of the Divine'? I plan to use this as my lead single on the show. I just—"

She kept talking, but Christian, who'd been silent until now, suddenly slammed his hand on the table.

"She said she doesn't want to sell! Tyler, don't push your luck!"

Tyler didn't even bother standing. He simply looked over, cold and unyielding, and somehow managed to make Christian seem insignificant even while sitting down.

Emilia wiped away the tears from her laughter and tugged gently at Christian's sleeve.

"I'll sell," Emilia said calmly.

After all, "Voice of the Divine" was the very show she herself would soon be joining.
