Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 188

When Emilia didn't reply, Tyler pressed on. "And about Bella's illness—I'll take over from here. I'll find the best doctors, the top medical team. She's going to get better."

"Bella is my daughter. I don't need your concern," Emilia finally said, her voice steady.

And as for his money, she wasn't going to accept another cent from him.

If he still had any decency left, then after the divorce papers were signed, he should return everything that belonged to the Dennis family. That was the least he could do for all the years she'd devoted to him—a final payment for services rendered.

"Felix is an excellent doctor. He'll help Bella recover," Emilia added.

A fresh wave of anger crashed over Tyler.

"My daughter is your daughter, isn't she?" he snapped. "Emilia, do you even hear yourself right now?"

Emilia clenched her fists.

She wanted to fire back, but forced herself to stay quiet.

Today marked day twenty-three of the mandatory waiting period; just seven days left.

Only seven more days. She couldn't afford any complications.

And after that, Bella's custody would be transferred solely to her. Tyler would have nothing to do with their daughter anymore.

Beside her, Tyler continued, relentless. "I know you and Joyce are close. You're best friends—I've got nothing to say about that. But what's going on with you and Felix? That's a different story."

Emilia looked up at him, disbelief written all over her face.

"Why are you accusing me of this?" she demanded. "There's nothing between me and Felix."

Tyler let out a bitter laugh.

He stared hard into her eyes, his voice low and cold. "I saw it with my own eyes. You and him, all over each other in the hospital room."

Emilia paused, thinking back. Then she remembered that day.

"You were the one outside the hospital room?"

Tyler didn't answer—just kept his gaze locked on hers.

So, she'd been caught in the act? Did he really believe that?

Emilia found it almost funny.

Actually, it was hilarious.

She let out a soft laugh. "And who are you to judge me?" she shot back. "You and Vivienne's affair has been splashed all over town. Now you're policing my friendships?"

"Double standards much? You can break the rules but I can't?"

Not that there was anything going on with Felix; she'd made things clear with him already, and he'd agreed. Nothing inappropriate had happened since. But even if there had been—so what?
