Chloe was sobbing, but even as tears streamed down her face, she kept glancing over at Tyler, searching for a trace of warmth.

All she found was the cold indifference in his eyes.

"Chloe, if you're looking for experience, you're welcome to work at any of the top investment firms here in the States," Tyler said, his voice icy.

"That department always belonged to the Dennis family."

"You have a problem with her, and you're doing this on purpose."

He delivered each line with a measured chill, every word a slap.

Chloe said nothing, glaring at Tyler with defiant, wounded fury.

"Tyler," she called, hurrying over. "Let me explain things to Emilia. We were only together because of that situation with Eugene—"

Tyler looked at her, exasperated. "How are you going to explain? She has no idea what happened back then."

"I didn't want things to turn out like that, Tyler, I swear I didn't..." Vivienne's voice broke as she started to cry.

Her sobs were raw and desperate.

"I know," Tyler said gently, letting out a long sigh. "Tonight was just a coincidence, Vivienne. I'll handle it."
