“Tyler, I have my own dreams too!”
Tyler frowned, watching Vivienne sobbing in front of him. A dull ache throbbed behind his temples.
The files and data Secretary Jensen had just handed over confirmed that Vivienne really had struck back, refuting the rumors and exposing news of Serena’s miscarriage. But Tyler’s mind spun with deeper suspicions. Was he just being paranoid? He honestly wasn’t sure.
Vivienne looked so pale she seemed ready to collapse. In the end, all he could manage was, “Just go home and get some rest. Your health comes first.”
…
Meanwhile, on the other side of town, Christian had just driven Emilia to Jayden’s apartment. The group was already waiting for them, anxiety simmering in the air.
“So what now?” someone asked. Everyone in the room knew Emilia’s true identity, but no one dared say it out loud.
There were reasons for their hesitation. In just three days, Emilia and Tyler’s mandatory waiting period for divorce would be over. If Serena’s real identity as Emilia came out now, would things spiral out of control?
Everyone knew Emilia was determined to go through with the divorce. But what if, at the last minute, something stopped it?
And if Vivienne found out that Serena and Emilia were the same person, would she do something desperate?
Christian’s phone kept buzzing, nonstop. Emilia glanced at the screen—calls from every major sponsor of the show. Christian ignored each one, visibly tense. He didn’t dare pick up. New messages kept popping up, one after another.
Emilia caught a glimpse: every message demanded Serena’s immediate removal from the show.
The fallout from the “charity fraud” scandal was enormous. No sponsor wanted to take a chance—if the situation escalated and higher-ups got involved, the entire show could be scrapped.
Christian rubbed his brow, exhausted. He flashed the phone screen to Emilia before slipping it back into his pocket. They had precious little time to come up with a plan, or the consequences would be disastrous.
“Let’s not panic,” Emilia said, her voice steady. She’d been thinking the entire drive over. “The next live broadcast is the final. If everything goes well, I’ll have my divorce certificate before then.”
