Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 24

Elsewhere.

Inside the recording studio.

Emilia was preparing a piece for her upcoming debut on "Voice of the Divine." No matter how many times she tried, though, she just couldn't get into the right mood.

Frustrated, she changed out of her studio clothes and headed next door to the dance rehearsal room, hoping to work out some simple choreography to accompany her song. While "Voice of the Divine" was technically a singing competition, Emilia knew that a touch of dance could give her performance that extra spark.

The practice complex was top-notch, housing rehearsal spaces for both dance and vocals, along with a multi-purpose area that included a dressing room, café, changing rooms, and storage. It all belonged to Donovan Entertainment, one of the most renowned entertainment companies in Alden City. Their facilities were so good that even performers not signed to Donovan Entertainment often came here to train or rent space.

Since marrying Tyler, Emilia's days had settled into a rhythm of three main tasks.

First, she took care of Tyler's grandparents, visiting them often and making sure they were comfortable.

Second, she managed much of Tyler's personal schedule and handled confidential documents for The Erickson Group, working closely with the executive office staff. In particular, after the Dennis family scandal, The Erickson Group had absorbed all of their assets, and Emilia oversaw a department that still managed the remnants of those acquisitions. The old personnel and systems were long gone, but Emilia handled the legacy paperwork with practiced ease.

Third, she frequently practiced at Donovan Entertainment's rehearsal building—publicly, she claimed it was simply a musician's lifelong hobby. In reality, Emilia used the studio to record demo tracks under her stage name, "Emy." So, her regular presence at the practice center never raised any eyebrows.

Adrenaline surged. Instinctively, Emilia dove into a nearby flowerbed.

A split second later, a car sped past—so close it nearly grazed her. The rush of air from its passing whipped her jacket, making it flap noisily.

Cold sweat broke out along Emilia's spine. If she hadn't leapt out of the way, the car would have hit her head-on.

But she didn't have time to process the shock. The black car, having missed her, screeched as it swung around. Its headlights locked on her hiding spot, and it began to circle back—heading straight for the flowerbed where she crouched.
