Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 31

My baby...

Her baby.

Emilia remembered.

Summoning the last of her strength, she barely managed to whisper, "Doctor... please, save my baby."

Regret overwhelmed her.

Before she'd collapsed at the police station, that tidal wave of panic and sorrow had nearly broken her.

She'd once wanted a child because it would be the living bond between her and Tyler, proof of their love.

But after she gave up on Tyler, she'd thought she was giving up on the baby, too.

Yet over these past weeks, she had felt the life growing inside her—faint, insistent, undeniably real.

She'd started to hesitate, to feel uncertain.

But it wasn't until she was about to lose this child that she finally understood...

She hadn't realized how much she cared, how much she didn't want to let go.

This was her child, bound to her by blood.

Just like her father's rare blood type—a legacy she carried.

A connection that ran deeper than anything.

This was her baby.

It had nothing to do with Tyler now.

This child belonged to her, and her alone.

She wanted to keep it.

Tyler's car sped down the road.

In the passenger seat, Vivienne clutched her seatbelt, knuckles white.

She didn't dare say much; the less she spoke, the fewer mistakes she might make. She figured her performance just now had been more than enough.

But Tyler...

Vivienne stole a glance at his profile.

He stopped at reception, got Emilia's room number, and made his way there—only to find Joyce standing guard at the door.

Tyler's frown deepened.

"How is she?" he demanded.

Joyce didn't answer right away, her eyes scanning him warily from head to toe.

"What's going on?" Tyler forced down his impatience, doing his best to sound calm.

Joyce remembered what the policewoman had told her. Suspicion gnawed at her—was Tyler so desperate to marry Vivienne, so afraid Emilia wouldn't grant him a divorce, that he'd go to these lengths to get rid of her?

Especially after all those calls the policewoman had made from Emilia's phone, which Tyler had flatly ignored.

But Joyce didn't know how to voice any of this.

Tyler's growing irritation was written all over his face. Joyce hesitated, then finally ventured, "Tyler, must you really marry Vivienne? You can't wait even a single day?"

Tyler shot her a look. "What are you getting at?"

Joyce faltered, unable to answer.

Tyler couldn't hold back his anxiety any longer. "Out of my way!"
