Emilia had found her footing by now and no longer needed Theodore’s support.

Several yachts had already docked along the pier.

A few dockworkers hurried over, ready to help unload their gear.

“Hang on, let’s not rush!” Joyce called out, her voice carrying above the bustle. “Let’s see who caught more fish—us or them!”

With Theodore’s steadying arm, Emilia stepped off the boat.

She lifted her gaze, searching the crowd onshore, but Tyler—whom she’d just glimpsed watching from a distance—was nowhere to be seen. It was as if he’d vanished, as if she’d only imagined him standing there a moment ago.

A frown creased her brow. Had she really seen him?

Before she could puzzle any further, Theodore spoke quietly at her side. “You weren’t imagining things. It was him.”

Emilia turned to look at him.

He just smiled gently, a trace of thoughtfulness in his eyes. “I can’t say why he only watched for a moment before leaving,” he said. “Maybe he realized something.”

Emilia considered that, nodding slowly.

Then she shook off the thought. “Let’s not overthink it. We should be celebrating, right? Didn’t you say the chef you hired tonight is amazing? I want to eat my heart out!”

Theodore grinned. “Absolutely.”

They both laughed, the tension dissipating.

Emilia told herself she’d better eat well tonight—who knew if she could handle tomorrow’s product launch without a good meal in her system.

She’d actually suggested to Theodore that they push their second date back a few days, but he’d insisted on today. She realized he’d deliberately invited everyone out sea fishing, not just the two of them, so she wouldn’t feel under pressure. That small gesture made her feel safe and cared for.

“Whoa!” Joyce suddenly shrieked from across the dock, then came dashing over.

“Emilia, you guys landed a monster out there! How on earth did you haul that thing in?” Joyce’s eyes were wide with astonishment.

Emilia laughed, pushing aside all her worries. “Nearly fell into the ocean trying!”
