Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 38

He could still remember that day so clearly—kneeling beside her, his head resting on her shoulder. The man who was always so composed had finally broken down, silent tears soaking her shirt.

Emilia had stroked his hair, her hand gentle as she softly patted his back, soothing the raw edges of his vulnerability.

That day, she whispered, "Tye, don't be afraid."

"Didn't the family say so? Maybe a bit of happiness will bring your grandfather some luck. I'll go home with you."

"And even if… even if your grandfather doesn't make it… Tye, you still have me."

Even now, he could almost smell her perfume, faint and floral—the only gentle note in that year scarred by grief.

"Tye…"

He could hear her voice, over and over, calling his name—sometimes happy, sometimes sad, sometimes shy, always tender.

The last time she called him was just moments ago, her voice echoing softly in the stairwell.

Suddenly, his brows drew together. A ripple of fear ran through him.

"Tyler?" Vivienne's voice called him back. She squeezed his hand, concern in her eyes. "What's wrong?"

Tyler looked up, seeing Vivienne's pale, fragile face.

He snapped back to reality.

Turning away, he closed his eyes for a moment.

"It's nothing," he said. He slipped his hand from Vivienne's grasp and started the car.

"There's nothing to worry about. Joyce is at the hospital—she'll take care of her."

His tone was steady as he stared at the road ahead, expertly guiding the Aston Martin out of the parking lot and onto the highway.

"I'll take you home."

Vivienne gave a soft smile. "Alright."

At the hospital, chaos reigned outside the emergency room. Medical staff hurried in and out.

Felix smiled, gently brushing away the tears she'd missed, then changed into scrubs and headed into the emergency room.

He had barely stepped inside when a shrill alarm cut through the air.

"Patient's heart rate is plummeting—get the defibrillator ready!"

"Go check if the family is outside. We need someone to sign the critical care consent."

The emergency room descended into chaos.

Elsewhere, the Aston Martin pulled up outside Vivienne's apartment building.

Inside the car, Vivienne watched Tyler's profile, careful not to let her curiosity show.

Tyler had always been good at hiding his emotions. In the world of business, he was inscrutable—none of his rivals, no matter how skilled their teams, had ever managed to guess his next move.

Back when The Erickson Group was in the midst of a critical transformation, it was Tyler who led the charge. He had taken a traditional company and, through sheer determination and vision, turned it into a dominant force in the tech industry. Every decision, every gamble—Tyler had proven again and again that he was never just talk.
