One app opened, then another, then a third…
Emilia scrolled through her phone with calm precision, checking one after another. Finally, she typed the song's name into a search engine. There it was: the song already had its own encyclopedia entry.
All three lines credited Vivienne.
Even when she tried asking an AI assistant, it gave the same answer every time.
Satisfied, Emilia put her phone down and let out a quiet laugh.
Vivienne really was fearless.
If Vivienne had discussed this with Donovan Records recently, Christian—who kept an obsessive eye on these things—would absolutely know. And if Christian knew, Emilia would have heard about it, too.
But there had been nothing.
Given Christian's quick temper and almost fanatical sense of justice, there's no way he would have agreed to this.
Was Vivienne just clueless?
Did she think Donovan Records didn't matter?
Or did she believe that as long as Tyler was around, everything would work out?
Or maybe, knowing she only had six months left, she'd simply stopped caring?
Emilia was lost in thought when a soft sobbing sound broke her focus.
She glanced over and saw Cindy dabbing at her eyes.
Noticing Emilia watching, Cindy quickly wiped away her tears. "Oh—Serena, that song was just so moving, I'm sorry, I couldn't help it…"
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't be talking up the competition."
She sniffled. "Wait, no, Vivienne's a guest judge, not a contestant…"
Cindy, her assistant, was so touched she'd forgotten herself.
Emilia found her oddly adorable. She reached for a tissue and gently helped Cindy dry her tears.
"It's all right," Emilia said softly. "I think it's a wonderful song, too."
After all, she had written it herself.
Cindy finally let out a shaky breath, relieved.
"I ship them! I ship them so hard!"
"Emilia, come out here and face the music!"
…
On stage, Vivienne bowed gracefully to the audience.
She wiped away her tears, looking delicate and beautiful.
"Thank you."
Her voice was soft as she spoke into the mic. "Thank you all for loving this song—and thank you to… that special person."
A smile curved her lips. "Even if my story is coming to an end, even if there's so much pain ahead, I want you to know: as long as you're here, no amount of cruelty can scare me."
As she finished, the lights brightened.
"That was incredible—what a beautiful song!" The host, still wiping away tears, stepped onto the stage. "Vivienne, can you tell us who that special person is?"
Vivienne smiled but didn't answer. The camera, however, had already panned back to Tyler.
