Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 54

In the private lounge, the two of them helped the frail Emilia settle onto the couch.

"Cindy, could you get Serena a cup of hot tea?" Christian said, sending Cindy out of the room.

Now, it was just the two of them.

Of course, with the recording equipment present and Christian being her boss, there was no risk of rumors starting.

"What did Vivienne mean just now? I didn't get it," Christian broke the silence.

Emilia glanced at the camera in the corner, then pulled out her phone, typing quickly under the cover of her long coat before showing Christian the screen.

He glanced down and read:

[Looks like Vivienne thinks I'm your mistress. She came over and told me there's an obstacle in my way, implying I'll never ‘move up' because of it.]

Christian stared at the message, completely baffled.

He wouldn't mind having Emilia as his girlfriend, but she'd never shown any interest—and frankly, he didn't dare bring it up.

Knowing Emilia, if she caught wind of this kind of rumor, she'd probably cut ties immediately.

"Think about it. What did you do that could've given her that impression?" Emilia asked quietly.

Christian considered for a moment, then suddenly it clicked.

He opened his mouth to explain, but Emilia nudged him, shaking her head.

Christian pulled out his phone, shielding it with his jacket, and typed a reply.

[A few days ago, when you missed rehearsals, I showed your medical records to the internal team. The details were real, but I blacked out your name and changed the date to ten days ago. She must've seen the part about a miscarriage and assumed you were pregnant—with my child.]

Emilia nodded. That explained everything.

She turned her gaze to the live broadcast screen on the wall.

The only sound in the room was the singing from the stage, filtered through the speakers.

Christian hesitated, his eyes flickering with uncertainty. He ventured, "He's here. Did you know?"

It wasn't that he never watched entertainment shows.

He only watched the ones with Emilia in them.

The Erickson Group hadn't originally planned to expand into entertainment. That was his personal indulgence; he'd even set up a dedicated department for it.

But by then, Emilia had already signed with Christian's Donovan Entertainment.

Emilia had been learning music since she was a child—piano, violin, guitar, you name it, she could play it, even masterfully.

Back then, he often stood on his balcony, a shadowy figure, watching from afar as Emilia and her parents shared their happiness together.

Tyler gazed out at the blur of scarlet roses rushing past the window.

He remembered: as a teenager, Emilia had been fearless and flamboyant—maybe she got it from her mother. She loved wearing red dresses.

One year, Ms. Dennis wore a flowing red dress, playing the violin among the autumn leaves. Her dark, gently curled hair danced in the wind, red maple leaves swirling around her in the winter light. Tyler wondered how many young hearts she'd stolen that day.
