Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 57

Fine, then—I'll use her.

There's no point fighting a blade with bare hands, especially when you can just seize the handle and wield it yourself. That's the smarter move.

Vivienne's lips curled into a subtle smile. Hadn't she been holding the handle to "Serena," that sharp knife, all along?

As long as Serena wanted to stay in the spotlight, her miscarriage was the perfect leverage.

At least for the duration of the Voice of the Divine competition, that secret gave Vivienne complete control over her.

If word of that scandal got out, Serena's popularity would nosedive, and her commercial value would evaporate overnight.

It would ruin her.

But threats alone weren't enough—there needed to be an incentive, too.

And the best incentive...

Vivienne's satisfied smile deepened. Helping Serena topple Emilia and become Christian's official girlfriend? That was the sweetest carrot she could dangle.

Now that everything was clear in her mind, Vivienne, who'd been tense just moments before, finally relaxed.

She glanced over at Jack, who was busy prepping for the show, and reminded him, "Tonight, I need to be the star of the stage. No exceptions."

Jack looked up, puzzled by Vivienne's insistence.

Noticing his confusion, she added, "Also, I have a new angle for promoting that woman. Leave the usual tactics aside."

She leaned in, whispered something softly into Jack's ear.

Jack nodded thoughtfully, and the two shared a knowing smile.

Meanwhile, in Emilia's dressing room, Christian had left to handle other business, leaving his assistant, Cindy, to look after her.

Cindy scrolled through her phone, her frown deepening with every swipe.

"That's odd," she muttered.

She let out a soft laugh, set the tablet aside.

Cindy carefully retrieved it, wanting to gauge Serena's mood, but her expression remained unreadable behind the mask—impossible to decipher.

After a moment's hesitation, Cindy ventured, "Serena, should we tell Mr. Donovan? Maybe he can handle this."

Emilia shook her head. Knowing Christian's impulsive nature, he was probably already well aware.

He was likely plotting his own move.

With that, Emilia dialed Christian's number.

He didn't answer right away. Just as Emilia was about to hang up, the call connected.

"Serena." Christian's voice came through. "What's going on?"

They'd agreed on this: whenever she wore the mask, he would only address her as "Serena."

Emilia watched the livestream quietly and said, "It's time. You can send the legal notice."
