Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 65

That day, the two of them knelt by the old man's hospital bed. Tyler held Emily's hand and said, "Grandpa, I brought Emily to see you."

"We're getting married."

Back then, even though the old man was gravely ill, he still managed to point at Tyler and warn, "If you don't truly love her, don't waste her whole life. I don't need you sacrificing yourselves for my sake."

The Erickson family owed everything to Parker, who had built their fortune from scratch, founding what would become the entire Erickson Group. In this family, when Parker spoke, no one dared defy him.

How could she not be moved?

That day, Tyler made a promise at his grandfather's bedside, swearing he truly loved her and would always treat her right.

But now…

Emilia closed her eyes.

Time had changed everything.

Tyler had already asked for a divorce. They'd even been to city hall.

Hiding the truth from his grandfather—that they were in the mandatory waiting period before the divorce was finalized—was the most Emilia could do. Any more than that, she simply couldn't manage.

With a heavy heart, Emilia exited the message screen on her phone.

Meanwhile—

Tyler sat in the back seat of his Bentley, staring at the message he'd just sent.

Three minutes passed.

Still no response.

He scrolled up, suddenly noticing that the last time Emilia had replied to him was before they'd gone to city hall.

Outside, rain streamed down the windows.

When was the last time he'd seen Emilia? It must have been three days ago, at the hospital.

Her forehead had been wrapped in bandages. She'd only spoken three sentences to him the entire time.

"What are you doing?!"

"What happened?"

And then, as he left, she called out his name—"Tye."

"Sorry for making you pick me up, Tyler. Have you been waiting long?"

"Not really," Tyler replied.

"Good." Vivienne's smile lingered.

The driver started the car, and they drove off through the rainy city streets.

Vivienne chatted about funny moments from the set, but Tyler only half-listened, his thoughts elsewhere.

Over and over, the masked woman's words echoed in his head: "You should ask her what she said to me."

"…Tyler? Tyler?" Vivienne's voice snapped him back.

He glanced at her, signaling for her to speak.

"What's on your mind, Tyler? You've seemed distracted this whole time."

He looked at her face—pale, fragile, evoking pity.

Finally, he spoke. "Today, what did you say to Serena?"
