Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 7

Vivienne's car sped toward Alden General Hospital.

Online, the news of Vivienne's so-called "death countdown" had exploded, flooding every comment section with speculation and debate.

"To be honest, I think Vivienne's great. She's not afraid to love or hate. At least she owns up to her feelings."

"Agreed. Tons of people like Tyler. As long as she's not a homewrecker, she's free to love whoever she wants."

"I only started paying attention to all this after Vivienne posted her video, and that live stream from the Solstice Villa… It was the first time I caught a glimpse of the lavish world of the rich. It'll be a shame if she's gone."

"Who's Tyler's wife, anyway? Can't she just step aside? Vivienne only has six months left."

"Oh, I know this one. Her name's Emilia. She's a musician, or was, before she married into the family and stopped performing. Now she's just the picture-perfect wife!"

Alden General Hospital.

Emilia's phone wouldn't stop buzzing—calls and texts from friends, acquaintances, and even a few old rivals. Some messages were sympathetic, others nosy, and a handful downright mocking. All of them revolved around Vivienne and Tyler.

She'd glanced at the news earlier, just enough to catch wind of Vivienne's so-called "countdown." She hadn't bothered to read further. It didn't matter anymore.

After the cooling-off period, her marriage to Tyler would be over for good.

Time slipped by. Emilia checked her watch and, as she looked up, saw Joyce hurrying over, purse in hand.

"How are you feeling? Any pain?" Joyce's eyes swept over Emilia's pale face, worry etched across her brow as she gently helped Emilia to her feet.

Emilia managed a small smile and shook her head.

She'd made her choice. Whatever came next, she had to face it.

Joyce understood far more than Emilia let on, but all she could do was sigh softly and steady her as they walked toward the elevator.

The bell chimed as the doors slid open, and they descended to the first floor.

The hospital lobby was bustling, even more crowded than usual. Emilia even spotted a few reporters milling around.

"There must be some celebrity here for treatment," Joyce muttered, glancing around. "Every time, the press comes out in droves—" She stopped short, her expression shifting instantly as she caught sight of something across the room. Without warning, she grabbed Emilia's arm and tried to steer her in the opposite direction.

But now…

"Joyce, I'm not feeling well. Let's just go home, all right?" Emilia said, eager to change the subject.

Immediately, Joyce's concern shifted back to Emilia's health, and she stopped glancing back at the pair across the room.

Emilia walked away, leaving behind the hospital lobby—and, for a moment, Vivienne's gaze flicked in her direction from the crowd.

There was a glint of triumph in Vivienne's eyes.

"I'm sorry, Tyler." she said, her voice filled with guilt. "This media frenzy—I never meant to pull you into it. I know how you despise the spotlight, but I..."

"Don't worry about it. Let's just see the doctor," Tyler replied, his expression unchanged.

Yet, for the briefest moment, something flashed through his mind—something he couldn't quite grasp.

Together, they headed down the corridor toward the consulting room.
