Faux Vows, True Desires novel Chapter 502

Hayden quickly chimed in, "If it bothers you, I'll have her terminate the pregnancy." After all, he wasn't short on kids. "We can have a few of our own later." Hayden was lost in his daydreams. He kept a close eye on Madeleine's daily activities. If she ever got pregnant, he'd be the first to know.

Madeleine shot back coldly, "Do you want my child to be illegitimate, Hayden? Even if I were pregnant, I'd terminate it." She wasn't pressuring Hayden to marry her; in fact, she had no intention of marrying him at all. But that didn't stop her from saying things that hinted at marriage, just to stir trouble between Hayden and his wife, hoping to disrupt their household.

Madeleine understood now that Nathan would never marry her. Nathan had told her that if she'd been tricked by someone else, he could forgive her, accept her, and even feel sorry for her. But since she had tried to trap Nathan and failed, she couldn't expect his sympathy. Especially since the man who had wronged her was Nathan's beloved younger brother, making it impossible for Nathan to overlook. Since she couldn't marry Nathan, she was going to make life chaotic for the entire Blue family. If she couldn't be happy, no one would be.

"Madeleine, I'll get a divorce. I won’t let our child be illegitimate. If you're pregnant, please don't terminate it. You're already in your late twenties; it's not good for your health to terminate a first pregnancy. It could lead to infertility, and you'd regret it."

"A divorce?" Madeleine laughed sarcastically. "Can you even get one? You and Ashley have three kids together, and your sons are old enough to start their own families."

"Besides, would Ashley agree to a divorce? Hayden, I've dealt with you and your wife before. You two might plan a sham divorce to trick me into the family, hoping to use my family’s influence to help you. Not a chance!"

Hayden was anxious. "Madeleine, it wouldn't be a sham divorce. I really would divorce her. I haven't loved Ashley for a long time. Otherwise, I wouldn't have had mistresses and children with them over the years."

He had plenty of money and could afford to support illegitimate children. Having a few more wouldn't be an issue. "But don't worry, if you agree to be with me, I'll cut ties with all my mistresses. Any who are pregnant will have to terminate the pregnancies. If you don't want to be a stepmother, I'll let Ashley take all the kids."

"Take them, and they'll still be your kids, unless you can cut ties completely." Madeleine's words were venomous. Hayden was taken aback. He was willing to divorce for Madeleine. She was young, beautiful, and the daughter of the Porter family. His wife's family was no longer as influential, and Ashley no longer matched his status as a Blue family member. But to rid himself of all his children? That he could not do. They were his flesh and blood, and he adored all three of them. His two sons were grown and helped him a lot.

Madeleine gave him a sidelong glance and said mockingly, "You said you'd do anything for me, but you were lying." She stood, casually grabbing her designer handbag, and sauntered away. "Madeleine, Madeleine," Hayden called after her, scrambling to catch up. "Where are you going? I'll go with you."

"The Blue family princess is back; given our families' connections, I should go pay my respects." Hayden quickly added, "Then ride with me. I was just heading back myself." Madeleine didn't refuse. Riding with Hayden to Sunnyglade Abbey would make quite the statement to Ashley. Even if she clung to her position, it was in name only. Hayden was a notorious philanderer, having kept several mistresses over the years. Even without Madeleine, Ashley wouldn’t have had a peaceful life.

Keith, with his knack for getting to the bottom of things, had already uncovered Hayden’s affairs. Now that Janice and her daughter were back, Keith would surely present his findings to Ashley, ensuring constant turmoil in their household. Keith was vengeful. If the Porter family never surpassed the Blue family, once Keith took over, he’d settle the score, leaving no benefits for the Porter family.

“I know, love. My parents know it too. Don’t worry, no one’s going to come between us.” Her parents absolutely adored him. They always considered his feelings in everything, mindful not to upset the harmony of their marriage.

Knowing how fiercely protective and deeply in love he was with her, it was unthinkable that anyone would try to put distance between them. Besides, such a move might give people the wrong impression about the strength of their bond. “I know your parents and your brother are understanding folks.”

Lucinda smiled, “We’re just next door to my brother’s place, and not far from Mom and Dad’s room.”

“Yeah, but the light in our room isn’t great with all those big trees outside. I suggested trimming some branches, but your brother said he likes them all lush and full.”

Having the room next to his sister and brother-in-law was a strategic move, just in case Darlene tried another one of her surprise visits. It was better to prevent her from sneaking out of the window unnoticed, which could be dangerous if someone caught her.
