Chapter 387: Talking with Selene
Lumi floated beside Orion, her glowing screen gently bobbing in thoughtful contemplation as she processed his thoughts.
[You should go and talk with Grandma Selene, Master. Maybe she can tell you something useful. ( •ᴗ• )]
Orion softly exhaled at Lumi’s words, nodding his head in quiet agreement. ‘You’re right. Grandma might have better insights about this situation. She’s been involved since the beginning, after all.’
He shifted his gaze back out of the carriage window, his thoughts swirling slowly around the delicate yet critical matter involving Fiora’s sealed memories.
The estate’s grand gates soon appeared ahead, and Orion’s carriage passed smoothly through, rolling to a gentle stop at the main entrance.
The door swung open quietly, and Orion gracefully stepped out, Edgar and Lucan respectfully bowing their heads before quietly stepping aside. Orion briefly nodded to them in acknowledgment, then quickly strode into the mansion with quick steps.
Inside the mansion, sunlight streamed softly through tall windows, casting gentle shadows across polished marble floors and intricate wooden paneling.
The warm scent of blooming flowers drifted lightly through the halls, providing an atmosphere of serene familiarity. Orion moved swiftly, the sound of his footsteps softly echoing along the empty corridors.
Arriving at Selene’s study door, Orion paused for a brief moment to gather his thoughts. Gently, he raised his hand, knocking softly upon the elegant wooden surface.
Inside the study, Selene sat behind her meticulously organized desk, eyes intently focused on the alchemy book spread open before her.
Hearing the gentle knock and feeling Orion’s familiar presence outside, her expression softened into a gentle, welcoming smile. Her warm voice carried clearly through the door, filled with affectionate familiarity.
“Come in, dear.”
Orion pushed open the door and stepped inside, instantly enveloped by the comforting aura of Selene’s study.
The room was warm and cozy, lined with shelves that held countless scrolls, books, and carefully stored potion bottles glowing softly with various colors of mana-infused liquid, as well as half-finished weapons.
Selene herself sat gracefully behind her desk, watching him approach with maternal affection.
Orion took a seat opposite her, returning her gentle smile with one of his own. She carefully observed his expression, noticing the faint tension lingering beneath his composed exterior.
“What happened?” she asked softly, her voice gentle and filled with genuine concern. “You seem troubled.”
Orion exhaled quietly, gathering his thoughts before speaking. “It’s about Fiora…”
Selene nodded slowly, immediately understanding the depth of his concerns. Her eyes took on a more serious hue as she carefully studied Orion’s expression.
“Have you finally decided to restore her memories and break her seal?” she asked gently yet cautiously.
“You know very well she might not be able to control herself like last time. And none of us know precisely how her suppressed childhood memories will affect her once they’re released.”
Orion took a deep breath, meeting Selene’s gaze with resolute determination. He nodded seriously, his tone unwavering. “Yes. I’ve decided to finally do it. We can’t keep delaying it. The longer we wait, the worse it might become for her growth, emotionally and in cultivation.”
Selene’s expression softened into a supportive smile, proud yet tinged with gentle worry. She spoke again, carefully choosing her words. “And how exactly do you plan to approach this delicate matter?”
Orion hesitated only briefly, gathering his thoughts carefully. “I intend to take Fiora out to enjoy a day together, somewhere quiet and peaceful, and gently inform her about everything in the evening, once she’s relaxed and comfortable.”
Selene watched him fondly as he exited, the door gently closing behind him, leaving her alone in the quiet study. Leaning back in her chair, she exhaled softly, a peaceful smile touching her lips.
“You’re growing up too fast, dear. Yet I couldn’t be more proud of who you’ve become.”
Outside, Orion walked calmly through the mansion corridors, his thoughts clearer and more resolved after speaking with Selene.
Lumi hovered silently beside him, carefully watching his expression before gently speaking up.
[I’m sure Rina will give us useful information, even though she might get… a little jealous with Fiora going on a date alone with you. (๑•ᴗ•๑)♡]
Orion chuckled as tension slipped out from his body, shaking his head, he said, ‘I think she won’t be jealous. Though I might have to make it up to her later. Let’s see how it goes.’
He continued his calm walk down the hall, eventually reaching the familiar entrance to his room. Outside his door, Rina and Fiora stood together, chatting as they often did, their voices soft and harmonious.
Sunlight poured gently through nearby windows, highlighting their graceful figures and adding warmth to the already comforting atmosphere.
The moment they noticed Orion approaching, both of their faces brightened visibly. Rina’s energetic, cheerful expression was especially vivid, her eyes sparkling happily as she greeted him.
“Master, you’re back so early today?” she exclaimed, her voice filled with pleasant surprise and joy.
Fiora, standing slightly behind Rina, offered a shy yet sweet smile, gently lowering her head as she softly greeted him, her cheeks faintly tinted with warmth. “W-Welcome back, Master.”
Orion’s lips curved naturally into a warm, affectionate smile as he looked at their beaming faces. Nodding gently toward Rina, he answered lightly, “Yes, I finished everything I needed to do early today, so I decided to return a bit sooner.”
