Flora’s Guide to a Second Chance at Love and Life novel Chapter 1970

This was actually a good thing.

The whole drive was tense—so quiet it almost hurt. Fiona drifted in and out of sleep, nibbling on pomegranate seeds, while Amy kept sneaking glances at her, trying not to get caught.

When Tyler rescued her, Amy was sure he was the hero. But then she overheard him gushing to someone about how it was really Fiona who’d made it all happen. He talked about Fiona like she was some kind of miracle worker. Ever since, Amy had been dying to meet her in person.

And now, here she was.

Fiona was even prettier than Amy imagined.

Amy couldn’t help smiling a little, stealing another look at her. It felt unreal—like maybe there really were people in the world who cared about her.

Of course, Amy knew Fiona probably hadn’t saved her out of pure kindness. Most likely, Fiona just wanted to expose the fake Amy. But that didn’t really matter. Fiona had given her a second chance at life, and honestly, Fiona seemed way more dependable than her own parents ever were.

The car sped along and soon rolled to a smooth stop. Fiona slowly opened her eyes and glanced out the window—the sky outside was already pitch black.

“Ms. Fiona, we’ve arrived at the Gregory house,” the driver announced.

Amy was the first to get out. She still had half a pomegranate left, which she tucked carefully into her pocket like it was some kind of treasure.

“You really like pomegranates that much?” Fiona asked, raising an eyebrow.

Amy froze, a little embarrassed, but Fiona just reached into the car, grabbed the whole bag, and handed it over. “Here, you can have them all.”

“W–wait, really?” Amy looked up at her, wide-eyed, not sure she’d heard right.

“Thank you,” she said quietly, hugging the pomegranates to her chest. Then she nodded toward the big house. “Ms. Fiona, let me take you inside.”

There were still lights on in the villa. If they just walked in the front door, they’d definitely get noticed.

The imposter turned around, and when she saw the real Amy, her face twisted into a smug, mocking grin.

Amy stiffened. Memories of all the torment she’d suffered flashed through her mind. She clutched the pomegranates tighter, her whole body tense with fear.

“What did you bring back?” the fake Amy demanded, staring her down. “Hand it over. I want to try it.”

But these were from Fiona, and Amy wasn’t about to give them up. She hugged them to her chest, refusing to move.

Seeing Amy refuse, the imposter shot up from the couch, grabbed a heavy ashtray from the table, and charged toward her, ready to smash it down on Amy’s head.

But the blow never came.

Just inches from Amy, the fake Amy’s arm was stopped cold. Fiona, who had just walked in from outside, caught her by the wrist and locked eyes with her, her grip unbreakable.
