Chapter 103

God, no. Please no.

Leon grinned and joined Peter’s investigation. “Ha! Don’t tell me Sable’s actually hiding under there. You two wouldn’t be that bold,

would you?

He reached out as if to lift the blanket. I nearly stopped breathing entirely.

You guys have way too much imagination.” Caelan actually laughed, patting the blanket casually. “This is the hospital’s thick thermal blanket. The nurse just added it.”

His leg shifted slightly, giving me more space while making the bulge look more like rumpled fabric.

“I really need rest right now. You should head back and handle pack business.”

Leon plopped down in the visitor’s chair with zero awareness of the hint. “But we just got here. Plus it’s raining outside, so we’re in no rush.”

He stretched his arms above his head, settling in for a long visit.

Scarlett poured herself a glass of water from the pitcher. “Let us keep you company. You must be so bored here alone. And when Sable comes back, we can all chat together.”

The trapped air under the heavy blanket was becoming stifling. Sweat beaded on my forehead as I struggled to breathe quietly through my nose.

“By the way, Caelan,” Peter leaned against the wall, “I heard Lucian was behind the attack on you. Want me to look into it?”

Caelan’s right hand clenched into a fist. His growing irritation was palpable.

I could feel the heat building under the covers. My stomach churned from the stuffiness, and I desperately needed fresh air.

After several more minutes of Caelan’s increasingly obvious hints to leave, the three finally moved toward the door.

“Alright, we’ll let you rest,” Scarlett said reluctantly.

Leon’s hand was already on the door handle when it happened.

The trapped air, the stress, the awkward position-everything combined to create the perfect storm. My stomach rebelled, and before I could stop it, a loud burp escaped.

‘BURP!

The sound echoed through the silent room like a gunshot.

Every footstep stopped. The silence stretched so tight it felt ready to snap.

“That sound…” Peter turned slowly, his eyes widening. “Caelan, that didn’t come from your direction.”

Leon released the door handle, pointing directly at the suspicious blanket mound. “Why is the blanket moving? It was completely still before!

Scarlett’s eyes lit up with sudden understanding. “I knew something felt off… Could it really be…”

Chapter 103

All three of them advanced on the bed like hunters closing in on prey

I knew it was over. There was no hiding ymore Taking a shaky breath, I slowly emerged from under the blanket, my chestnut hair appearing first in complete disarray

Then my face followed-red as a ripe tomato from embarrassment and heat.

I looked at the thire shocked faces staring down at me and managed a weak wave,

Peter’s jaw dropped so far it practically hit the floor. ‘Holy shit.”

Leon stood hosen, his eyes bulging out of his head.

Scarlett covered her mouth with both hands, but I could see her eyes dancing with barely contained laughter.

On God Of God, oh God, oh God.

Scarlett was the first to react, her quick wit kicking in to save us both.

Ahem… She cleared her throat loudly, breaking the suffocating silence, “We didn’t see anything.”

A mischievous grin spread across her face as she winked at us. Absolutely nothing at all.”

1 scrambled to crawl out from under the blanket, my movements clumsy and desperate. My legs tangled in the heavy fabric as I tried

to extract myself. The blood rushed to my face so fast I was certain I’d pass out from embarrassment.

My hands flew to my hair, trying frantically to smooth down the wild strands that stuck out in every direction. My dress was wrinkled and twisted, and I tugged at the fabric with shaking fingers.

Could this get any more humiliating?

Peter’s eyes gleamed with wicked amusement. He leaned against the doorframe, crossing his arms as he studied Caelan with obvious delight

“So…” He dragged out the word, his tone dripping with suggestion. “This is what you call needing bed rest?”

Leon joined in immediately, his grin widening. “Yeah, you look like you’re recovering just fine. He paused for dramatic effect. “Plenty of energy to spare.”

Carlan remained completely unruffled. He calmly adjusted the blanket to cover his lower half, his expression as composed as if we’d been discussing the weather

“Next time, knock. His voice was steady, matter of fact.

Scarlett burst into laughter. We did knock! We knocked several times!

She clutched her stomach, laughing even harder. But you two were obviously too… focused to hear us.”

Peter nodded with mock seriousness. Indeed. This treatment method seems remarkably effective,”

He turned to Leon with an exaggerated professional tone. We should definitely recommend this therapy to the medical staff.

Heat continued to flood my cheeks. I couldn’t bring myself to look any of them in the eye. Instead, I busied myself straightening my

clothes and avoiding all eye contact.

Caelan’s gaze found mine, and his expression softened into something tender and warm.

“Of course I’m recovering quickly,” he said, his voice gentle but carrying enough volume for everyone to hear. I have the world’s best fiancée taking care of me.”

But then his expression shifted, a cold smirk replacing the warmth as he turned back to Peter and Leon.

“At least I have a relationship to show off,” he said with icy satisfaction. “Unlike certain people who can only stand on the sidelines being bitter.

Peter threw his hands up in mock protest. “Hey, we came here to check on a sick friend!”

Caelan’s smirk deepened. Right. Two single men in their thirties offering relationship advice. Very credible.”

Leon’s mouth dropped open. “Harsh, man. Really harsh.”

Scarlett moved to my side, her eyes twinkling with mischief. She leaned close to my ear, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper.

“Since you two are so passionate, maybe I should buy you some sexy lingerie? Spice things up a bit?”

Without missing a beat, I leaned toward her ear and whispered back, “I think Caelan prefers me wearing nothing at all.”
