Chapter 10
The air carried the faint, unfamiliar scent of Megan’s perfume, but Howard quickly dismissed the thought.
In his mind, he saw the Megan he had seen just yesterday–gentle and pure as a blooming lily. She was nothing like the woman before him. He supposed their demeanors were only similar because of their shared profession.
That thought alone brought Howard a sense of relief.
“Alyssa has already bought the rights to use the song, and the price is to your satisfaction, so I hope you won’t make things difficult for her from now on.
Megan smiled. “Don’t worry. I won’t have anything more to say about the song.”
“That’s good then.” Howard nodded, his eyes darkening slightly as he warned, “I hope you keep your word.”
Megan merely smiled in response.
Howard turned and left, just as quickly as he had arrived.
Megan watched him reach the end of the corridor and carefully held Alyssa at the doorway, as if he were holding something fragile.
They soon left.
A few minutes later, Megan’s phone vibrated.
It was a message from Howard. “I told Grandpa that you couldn’t go because you weren’t feeling well yesterday. You must come home with me this weekend.”
It was an order.
Finding it laughable, Megan didn’t reply. She simply turned and walked in the other direction.
Meanwhile, Howard had just helped Alyssa into the car.
He fastened her seatbelt but didn’t start the engine immediately. Instead, he checked his phone.
Megan still hadn’t responded.
Alyssa noticed Howard’s actions. Her eyes reddened slightly as she softly asked, “Howard, are you unhappy with what I’m doing?”
Howard looked up, frowning at her. “Why would you ask that?”
Alyssa gave a small, pitiful smile. After a pause, she uttered, “Megan… She was a musician before, right? I was worried you might mind.”
Howard said nothing as he met her eyes.
To be honest, he did mind a little. But Alyssa was running out of time, so he would try to grant her every wish in the next six months.
Alyssa could tell what he was thinking. As such, she lowered her head, looking even more guilty.
The car fell into silence; only the faint tapping of Howard’s left hand on the steering wheel could be heard.
After about a minute, Alyssa spoke again. “I just want to walk the path she once walked. I want to know… how you loved her.”
She lifted her head, her eyes glistening with tears as she looked at Howard.
“I want you to love me the same way.”

Howard’s tapping stopped. He closed his eyes, letting out a long sigh in the end.
“Don’t overthink things. She and I have petitioned for our divorce. Once the waiting period ends, the divorce will be official. I’m with you now, Aly.” Alyssa finally smiled and gave a nod.
“Alright, let’s head back,” Howard said, putting away his phone and starting the engine.
Alyssa cast her eyes downward, a victorious glint crossing her gaze,
Of course she was doing all of this on purpose. She was determined to ride the tide of public favor to overshadow and crush Megan in every way, Whether it was Megan’s man or her career, Alyssa intended to take them all.
That was also why she had to participate in “Celestial Voice“.
Alyssa wanted to overshadow Megan, break her completely, and ideally force her to leave the city so that she could take over all that was hers. And now, it would seem that everything was just too easy,
With that in mind, she suppressed a smile, feigning weakness and resting
Megan had already signed the agreement with Jimmy.

One of the investors in “Celestial Voice” was Ferrell Entertainment, and as their representative, Jimmy held some authority.
Knowing Alyssa would participate, he had arranged a confidentiality agreement for Megan.
Megan would compete as a special masked contestant, using the stage name “Elena“.
Elena really was.
She would only remove the mask at the appropriate time to reveal her true identity. Until then, only Megan and Jimmy knew who
Since this was a music competition, the focus would be on songwriting and singing ability. As such, the mask would merely seem like a marketing tool.
Besides that, other agencies had also added some promotional elements, so no one objected to it.
Megan was very satisfied with her stage name as it sounded elegant and peaceful. After taking care of everything, she drove to the hospital.
Earlier that morning, she had postponed her appointment with the doctor, so the timing now was perfect.
After a light lunch, Megan arrived at the doctor’s office.
She knocked on the door lightly. Seeing the doctor look up, Megan gave a polite nod and entered, closing the door behind her.
Dr. Stacy Rivers, Megan’s psychiatrist for depression, watched her sit and asked in a gentle voice, “You seem different from before. How have you been feeling recently?”
Up to this point in her life, Megan had experienced a lot, including moments of unrestrained joy, moments of pain, and every twist and turn in between.
Her first twenty–plus years had been filled with hardships, but there had always been some support.
That was until the day Alyssa intruded into her life.
Even before Alyssa had started sending her messages from an alternate account, she had already sensed something was off.
