Just then, a knock came at the door of her waiting room. One of the production staff called out, “Ms. Elena, all the singers have finished their performances. It’s time to return to the stage and select your

teams.

“Alright, thank you,” Megan replied.

She was about to stand up when her phone buzzed once more. However, this time was different. She had received a message on her other number.

After reading it, Megan fell silent, lost in thought.

“Elena?” Jessie asked. “What’s going on?”

“It’s nothing.” Megan shook herself slightly and stood up, saying, “Let’s go.”

With Jessie supporting her, she walked back onto the stage.

Meanwhile, on the top floor of Larson Headquarters, Howard immediately sensed something was wrong the moment he stepped in. Everyone in the secretariat department kept their heads lowered. The atmosphere was oppressively silent.

Zander opened the door to the CEO’s office. Howard stepped inside, only to be struck on the head with a walking stick.

The legal notice could be served at any time after “Micro Love” officially went live on all platforms. After all, they’d sold the right to use the song. If the credits weren’t included, it would be nothing short of a colossal joke.

Jimmy let out a sinister chuckle. “Great minds think alike. I’m preparing it as we speak.”

“But,” Megan said softly, her eyes lowered, “serve it to her personally. Don’t post it online.”

Jimmy raised a brow. “What’s your reasoning?”

Megan replied calmly, “A notice serves warning and informational purposes. It’s procedural.”

Smiling, Jimmy said, “Got it.”

Smart people only needed the barest hint.

Hot–tempered though he was, Jimmy wasn’t an idiot. After all, he had wrestled control of Ferrell Entertainment from within a cutthroat family where both his elder brothers were far more established than he was.

Both he and Megan knew that Alyssa’s impending death was essentially a get–out–of–jail–free card. If they made a public statement–even to assert their lawful rights–the public would still cast them in a negative light.

The weaker party always drew sympathy. People might believe Ferrell Entertainment was bullying Alyssa, who was already on the brink of death. That would make the company look like a ruthless, blood–sucking corporation.

And for a listed company, reputation was critical. It could shake their share prices, especially since Ferrell Entertainment was part of the Ferrell Group.

They could only wait for a good opportunity to roll around. When they struck, they had to ensure they succeeded on the first try. But they couldn’t remain idle either.
