“Impossible!” Liam shouted, “You and Freya have never gotten along. How could you be together? You’re lying to me! You’re lying! Freya even asked Lily to buy me a shirt! She loves me. She still has me in her heart! Where’s Freya? Let her speak to

me!”

Ryan nodded. “Alright.” He held the phone to Freya’s lips again and asked, “Freya, tell him. Who did you buy the shirt for?”

Freya lifted her head, breathing as she looked into Ryan’s eyes.

She wondered if it was just her imagination, but his eyes seemed unnervingly bright in the dark.

That night, Ryan seemed like a wolf.

“Forget it,” Ryan chuckled lightly. “Freya is too tired to speak. Lily, please tell him.”

Lily said timidly, “Liam… the shirt is not for you.”

“What?” Liam’s brows shot up in surprise.

“Freya asked me to buy the shirt on her behalf. It is indeed for Mr. Reed,” Lily explained.

“That’s impossible. Impossible. I don’t believe it…” Liam shook his head.

Ryan said, “Liam, do you remember I once told you I’ve liked a girl for fifteen years? I gave up inheriting the family business and went to law school to become a lawyer, just so one day I could help her get divorced.”

Liam’s voice trembled in shock. “The girl you like… is Freya?”

“Yes,” Ryan replied. “I watched the two of you meet and fall in love, and then I saw you marry and break apart. I always thought that if you could make her happy, I would step back. But… you didn’t pass the test.”

Liam’s face reddened as he said, “It was just a fling with Natalie. I had a knot in my heart. You know this! You know it better than anyone!”

“Yes, but so what?” Ryan said, “You cheated, and that’s a fact. Maybe there was a way out before, but you acknowledged Natalie as your wife in front of countless reporters earlier and promised to spend the rest of your life with her and raise a child together. How can you possibly expect Freya to forgive you now?”

Liam was speechless.

Ryan sneered, “What’s done is done. After tonight, everyone knows Natalie is your wife, she’s pregnant, and soon she’ll give birth to your heir. And Freya, she has me.”

Freya summoned a bit of strength and reached for the phone.

Ryan dodged skillfully and said, “Freya, behave.”

Freya looked at him and asked in confusion, “Ryan, have you lost your mind?”

She pondered, ‘Why did he suddenly seem like a different person? How could he come up with such a ridiculous lie? Even if he wants me to divorce Liam, there’s no need to drag himself into it like this.’

“I’ve lost my mind for a long time,” Ryan said. “But I actually think I’ve never been this sane before.”

He spoke into the phone, “Let’s leave it at that for today. Freya and I still have unfinished business.”
