“All must choose their own light. Even in shadow.”

I watched her from the realm between realms, where time hung like mist and the stars spoke only in pulses of light.

Soria Stormclaw. A child forged in blood and fear, bound by choice and regret. She lay tangled in sheets laced with dark magic, her heart cracked open beneath the weight of a bond she had chosen, and the soul she might yet reclaim. Her eyes no longer burned with rage; they flickered and wavered, pleading in silence.

She was not beyond saving. Not yet.

I stepped into the veil and summoned the wolf. Sierra appeared in the glade of memory, her grey and brown fur shimmering with moonlight, eyes ancient and piercing. Her soul had once been tethered to Soria, torn away in a violent rite of darkness. Even severed, even broken, her heart still howled for her girl.

“She calls to you,” I said softly.

Sierra growled low and mournful. “She chose them. She chose death.”

“No,” I whispered. “She chose survival. And now, she chooses again.”

The glade shifted. A mirrored echo of Soria appeared before us, kneeling and broken, her hands bloody from clawing at a door she thought locked forever. She didn’t see us, not yet. She was only dreaming. But her soul felt us. It ached for forgiveness.

I knelt so my eyes met Sierra’s. “If you return to her, you’ll not be what you were. The bond will twist. She is no longer purely wolf. She is hybrid now… vampire and wolf. Your return will force her to evolve. She will be the only one of her kind.”

Sierra’s ears flattened. “She will suffer.”

“She will survive,” I corrected, my voice cool as starlight. “And she will rise stronger than her sister could ever dream. But only if you choose her again. And only if she chooses you.”

The wolf tilted her head. “And if she refuses?”

“Then you remain. And she falls.”

A long silence followed. The stars held their breath. And then Sierra growled again, this time laced with something fiercer than rage…..love.

“Let her speak,” she said. “Let her choose.”

I nodded, and the veil parted. The dream version of Soria lifted her head, trembling. I stepped into the light fully, my silver hair floating like moonbeams, my voice echoing across her bones.

“Soria Stormclaw,” I said, and she gasped. “You stand at the edge of two worlds. The path you walk leads to ruin. But there is another way. Harder. Bloodier. Brighter.”

“You can go forward. With her.” I motioned to Sierra. “If you accept what you are. If you endure the fire of transformation. You will be re forged. You will be hunted. Hated. Feared.”

“Will I be free?” she whispered.

I stepped closer, pressing my fingers to her forehead. “Yes. But only if you choose it. And only if your wolf does too.”

Soria turned toward Sierra, tears streaming down her cheeks.

“I’m sorry,” she said. “I was scared. I was stupid. I was so fucking lost. But I missed you. Every second. Please… please come back.”

Sierra padded forward, massive and majestic, and pressed her muzzle to Soria’s chest. A bright white pulse of light exploded outward, silencing the dreamscape. Their bond reknit in that one heartbeat, fractured pieces soldered back together by raw love and pain.
