Chapter 172
Lucien Virell POV
25
The chamber reeked of blood, incense, and power, the kind that slithered under your skin and made your soul flinch. Perfect.
The torches burned crimson along the stone walls, casting wicked shadows over the circle I had carved into the marble floor with a blade honed from bone and hate. Five slaves knelt trembling around the perimeter, eyes wide and shining. Willing, desperate for favor. Fools. Beautiful, bleeding offerings.
Vaela stood across from me in the circle, her mouth curved in that wicked little smile that always made my blood run hot. Her crimson gown clung to her curves, soaked with the magic of the blood goddess, and her eyes gleamed, obsidian black, rimmed in a hellish red glow. Her platinum blonde hair shimmered in the moonlight. She was absolute perfection.
“You’re sure?” I murmured, stepping into place, the ritual blade in my hand already humming with dark energy.
Her grin widened as she cut her palm with zero hesitation. “I’ve never been more sure of anything, my love.”
“Raelith,” I whispered silently, “Mother of Blood, Keeper of Eternal Hunger, we offer you flesh, we offer you fear, we offer you devotion. Bind us in your name.”
The five sacrifices bowed their heads in silence. Then one by one, I slit their throats. Quick. Efficient. Almost reverent. Their blood spilled into the carved trenches, flowing toward the center, toward the black chalice etched in runes older than the fae.
Vaela met me there, both of us extending our hands above the goblet, letting our blood drip in and mix with the sacrifice.
The moment it blended, the chalice pulsed. The air shattered.
The shadows peeled back like skin, and a voice like cracking bone filled the room. “You would bind yourselves before me? You dare demand power?”
“We offer everything,” Vaela said, her voice sharp with devotion. “We are yours. Forever.”
“Then take what you’ve asked for. You are mine now for eternity.”
The blood ignited. Red flame surged upward in a twisting cyclone, wrapping around us both, devouring, rewriting, fusing. My knees nearly buckled as her magic slammed into mine and mine into hers, twining, twisting, becoming something more. We weren’t just lovers
anymore.
We were bonded. Blood bound. Eternal. The mark seared itself into my chest, just above my heart, a sigil of Raelith, burning bright.
Vaela let out a moan as hers formed on her ribs, mirroring mine. When the flames died, we stood there panting, eyes glowing, hearts pounding in sync. We turned to each other slowly, drunk on power and lust and the taste of divine corruption.
She laughed first, it was high, wild and ecstatic. I joined her, head thrown back, voice echoing off the stone like the cry of a beast.
“They don’t even know,” she gasped, wrapping her arms around my waist. “They think they can win.”
“They don’t realize,” I whispered against her lips, “they’re already bleeding.”

Chapter 172
:
And when we kissed, it was ruin and fire and the promise of annihilation.
Let the world burn. We’d be the ones lighting the match.
Soria POV
(25)
The training chamber reeked of blood and scorched magic. Crimson light pulsed from the stained glass above like an open wound in the ceiling, casting everything in this temple of torment in hellish glow. Vaela was already stretching, if you could call that twisted, sinewy motion stretching. It looked more like a predator testing her joints before a kill.
Varek stood beside me, his jaw tight. I could feel the way his pulse shifted, steady, but aware. On guard. He wasn’t sure what was about to happen. Neither was 1.
Not really. But I’d seen the mark. Faint, still healing, burned into the flesh just under Vaela’s ribs. A symbol I’d only ever seen carved into stone altars and whispered about in old, forbidden texts.
