Chapter 172
George was speechless for a second. He said, “It’s not worth getting drunk over people or things like
that.”
Rhea laughed self–deprecatingly before saying, “It’s kind of embarrassing.”
George’s eyes met hers. “It’s just not worth it. I didn’t say it was embarrassing.”
Rhea was surprised. “Isn’t it, though?”
“Getting drunk over someone you care about is normal.”
Rhea then realized something. “Have you been through that too?”
Unexpectedly, George replied without any hesitation, “Yeah.”
Rhea froze. She couldn’t believe that George had gotten drunk over someone, too.
“You… have?” She was having trouble even forming her words.
She had never heard Nathan say that George had ever had a crush.
A faint trace of amusement flickered in George’s eyes. “Yeah.”
Her eyes went wide in shock. “When?”
“July 19th six years ago,” he replied calmly.
Rhea’s heart skipped a beat. “The day… I married Carter?”
George didn’t look up, as if unaware. “Really?”
He wore a dark gray shirt, his hair short and neat. When he looked at Rhea, his eyes carried a smile she couldn’t decipher.
Rhea was silent for a long moment, then slowly nodded. “She didn’t know how to appreciate you. Don’t be sad.”
George suddenly chuckled softly and looked at her. “It’s alright. At least I know she’ll keep getting better.” Then, he added, “I need to head back to Draventh soon.”
“Okay. I’ll leave after I finish eating.” Rhea didn’t want to stay and bother him. After all, this wasn’t
her home.
“Stay here if you want. I’m not coming back. There’s not much in your place anyway,” George said. Rhea’s new house only had the basic amenities. She hadn’t bought anything else yet.

“George,”
He put down his spoon and looked up. “There’s no need to be polite with me.”
Rhea was stunned for a second.
He continued, “Your friends aren’t this polite with me anyway.”
Rhea chuckled and asked, “Wouldn’t it be awkward for me to stay here?”
“Nathan stays here all the time.”
Still, Rhea thought that it just didn’t seem right for her to stay in George’s house.
Noticing her hesitation, George said, “It’s fine. Just stay here. I won’t be home anyway.”
After saying that, he stood and made a move to leave. “This place has everything. Don’t drink too much and eat well. If you want something, just have the maid make it.”
He seemed certain that she would stay. Before Rhea could react, his car was already gone.
Just then, a kitten meowed, startling Rhea. “George has a cat?”
