Rhea didn’t have time to think and left right away. On her way to Draventh, she spoke with Louie on the phone for a long time, going over details of the partnership.

Louie asked cautiously, “Ms. Ravelle, is there anything I should be careful about when I meet your father? Or what does he like?”

Rhea answered, “You don’t need to worry about that. My dad doesn’t care about those things. Just focus on doing good business. That’s all that matters.”

When Rhea got to Kate’s ward at Draventh First Hospital, her friends were already there.

“Rhea,” Carolyn called out.

“Kate? What happened?” Rhea couldn’t wrap her head around it.

Kate was a disciplined woman with excellent habits, never showing the slightest sign of ill health.

She had always been calm and even–tempered, never at odds with anyone. Always smiling, she was the picture of a refined and well–bred daughter.

Yet, Carolyn had said over the phone that Kate had ended up in the hospital with a stomach bleed from drinking.

Kate’s face was pale, but she still managed a soft smile. “You didn’t have to rush here. I’m really fine. I just tore my esophagus a little when I threw up.

Liora sat silently to the side, her expression complicated.

Last night, they all went out for dinner. Liora had drunk too much. When Carolyn and Evelyn went to the restroom, Liora had blurted out George’s secret.

She remembered Valerie freezing in shock. And Kate only smiled and kept drinking, one glass after another.

Even with her dullness, Liora could sense what was going on–Kate had feelings for George.

Liora and Valerie had only just found out as well, since Kate had never shown the slightest sign all these years.

Their friend group was big, but Rhea and Kate had the closest relationship. They had been in the same school and class from kindergarten through to high school.

“What’s bothering you? What could’ve made you drink like that?” Rhea asked gently.

Kate shook her head and looked at her calmly. “Nothing’s bothering me. My family has been pushing me to get married. I guess it got on my nerves.”

In their circle, three were already married. Evelyn was engaged, and only Carolyn and Kate remained single.

“I’m free these days. I’ll stay with you for a while,” Rhea said.

However, Kate refused. “No need. I’ll be going home soon. You’re busy anyway. Don’t let me hold you up.”

“You’re not holding me up. I was planning to visit my parents anyway.‘

When Nathan heard that Rhea was back in Draventh, he set aside the evening to host a dinner with

her friends.

At the Snider residence, George’s mother, Cynthia Gordon, firmly said, “George, if you don’t start thinking about your future, don’t blame me for stepping in.”

Bryan instantly turned his face away.

Cynthia was at it again.

George leaned back on the couch. “I’m not ready for marriage.”
