George glanced at it briefly. “Okay, get everything ready according to her preferences.”

Kate listened quietly.

“Maverick, is dinner ready?” Cynthia asked.

“Yes, Mrs. Snider.”

Cynthia stood and tugged at Kate. “Come on, let’s go have dinner.”

At that moment, George said, “Set up a separate table.”

Maverick asked, “May I know who’s coming? Should we add some extra dishes?”

“My girlfriend will be coming,” George replied.

The maids froze for a moment.

Since Cynthia had already made her stance clear, they didn’t dare show any obvious pleasure. They simply nodded silently.

Upon hearing that, Cynthia said, “You’re not even engaged, and she’s already coming over?”

“I’ve always believed that a fiancee is closer than a friend,” George said without turning around.

Maverick immediately went to make preparations.

“Mrs. Snider, calm down. Have some soup,” Kate said, serving her. “Don’t be mad. Nothing and no one in this world is worth harming your own body over.”

Valerie couldn’t stand all this pretentious chatter. The old Kate never spoke like this. It was so over- the–top and full of hidden meanings.

Valerie shot Liora a glance. Liora understood immediately.

“George, since Rhea’s coming, I’ll invite our circle of friends too. Let’s make it lively, like a pre- celebration for your engagement,” she suggested.

George was having his secretary arrange some drinks needed for the engagement day. He didn’t hesitate to agree to Liora’s suggestion. “Sounds good.”

Upon hearing that Rhea would be coming, Maverick instructed the kitchen to prepare extra dishes,

his smile wide.

The Snider residence hadn’t been this lively in a long time, not even during the New Year. An opportunity like this called for some celebration.

Cynthia’s opinion didn’t matter as Steven and George were on the same side. As an employee, he had no need to offend anyone.

Besides, Maverick preferred Rhea’s free–spirited nature to Kate’s strict formality.

To him, it wasn’t ideal to be so rigid and always the same. He thought that someone who didn’t even show when they were angry could be quite intimidating.
