When Kate approached, no one spoke. Only Rhea greeted her.

Kate sat across from Rhea and gently remarked, “I remember you didn’t like shrimp before.”

who peels it for me.”

She was deliberately flaunting her relationship, and Kate could tell. However, she didn’t feel angry. Instead, she felt a twinge of pity for Rhea.

He lowered his voice. “If you’re planning for a child later, shouldn’t you start nourishing yourself properly now?”

Even though he intentionally spoke softly, Kate heard every single word. Everyone else did too.

Elena glanced at Kate. “Ms. Pearson, didn’t your parents ever sign you up for etiquette classes as a child?”

“There’s a module called expression management,” Elena explained calmly. “Your gaze at Rhea just now practically screamed jealousy.”

Kate’s face flushed. “I-”

“If you’re feeling jealous here, why do you insist on staying and torturing yourself? Or have you not annoyed people enough?”

Elena continued bluntly, “If I were you, I’d have gone home. After all, everyone knows that you like Mr. Snider and even secretly sabotaged Rhea. Yet, you’re sitting here like nothing has happened. I have to say, your endurance is impressive.”

Kate couldn’t take it anymore. “Ms. Austin, I haven’t offended you, have I? You’re well educated, so why-”

“My good education is for dealing with people of equal refinement,” Elena said, sipping her wine. ” Are you one of them?”

After all, who in their right mind would have the nerve to sit here so boldly?
