Seeing Carter, Rhea just smiled.
It seemed that Kate had really gone all out. Not only had she dragged Lauren into this, but she had also managed to pull Carter into it.
Rhea was right.
Kate, who had been hiding behind the crowd, noticed Lauren joining forces with Rhea to berate her. As such, she knew that she had to act.
She knew that Carter still had feelings for Rhea and hadn’t given up, and that Lauren and Rhea could never truly be allies. Lauren was simply furious now.
At a time like this, Carter’s presence as the ex–husband carried the most weight.
If he wanted any chance of winning Rhea back, he couldn’t contradict Kate’s words. He had to help prove her innocence.
Otherwise, if Kate were proven guilty of anything, Carter couldn’t escape the fallout, and Rhea would never forgive him.
Besides, Kate didn’t think that Carter would ever admit his own mistakes in front of Rhea. Doing so would only lower his status, leaving him powerless in Rhea’s eyes.
The office was crowded now.
At this point, almost everyone from the translation and project team had gathered. They were all straining to listen.
And as if by unspoken agreement, no one called Eden. No one wanted to spoil the show.
Even Annie was watching from the crowd.
Lauren’s eyes narrowed at the sudden appearance of Carter. “How did you get in here?”
Carter’s expression was cold when he saw her. “How did you?”
Lauren blurted, “Kate had let me in! You only came because she called, didn’t you? Ha! Carter, you’re really pathetic, running off to whoever summons you!”
“You…” Carter had grown noticeably weary. His clothes were no longer flashy, custom–made suits. He looked just like an ordinary man now.
Lauren’s anger peaked. If she didn’t release it, she might explode.
She planted her hands on her hips and shouted at the top of her lungs, “Carter, you useless jerk! I

used to think you were decent–looking, but now I see that I was blind! Just thinking about how I had two kids with you makes me certain I’m doomed in the next life!”
Rhea thought for a moment. She believed that even if Lauren hadn’t had kids with Carter, she would
still be doomed.
Lauren, oblivious to Rhea’s silent judgment, continued firing off insults, “You float between two women, thinking you’re clever! You sweet–talk me while trampling on Rhea’s feelings for you! In the end, I’m just garbage to you, something you toss aside once I’m no longer useful!”
“You are garbage!”
Carter’s expression darkened. He hadn’t come here to take insults. But Lauren was going on and on, leaving him no room to speak.
Lauren spun around sharply and pointed at the drenched Kate. “And you’re even worse!”
Kate looked at Carter helplessly. “Mr. Jamison…”
Inside, she was boiling with anger and frustration.
This useless idiot! Why wasn’t he saying something? She had called him here for a reason.
“Shut the fuck up!” Lauren roared. “His ex and first love are here. Do you think you get to speak,
little bitch?”
Everyone was rendered speechless, including Rhea and Kate.
